Some Nice Tips.
« on: November 20, 2007, 01:34:57 am »
These are just some tips that COULD help with your gameplay. This comes under MODS and .bmp files are edited.

1: Modified Grenades. Make them a nice Neon Pink or a Bright Orange. This will stand out among the long grasses.

2: Coloured rounds. This will help you identify the weapon someone has over a LONG-DISTANCE

3: SLIGHTLY Larger Gosteks. This will identify the campers hiding. DONT make them too large, or you cant join a game.

Thats all for now.

I personally don't agree with modifying soldats default files to make it easier to play.

if you really wanted to you could make a big red arrow stick out of the top of every player showing where they are..

You cant really do that. The Gosteks have size restrictions.

16x16 is more than enough to screw any camper over.

So that's how those basterds see my when i'm hiding! In the new version they should make it that gosteks can only be 1 size. Specially for TW.

So do vaginas, but you don't see me complaining do you?

Oh yeah.. forgot about 16x16 restrictions.

I know.... you could always make the barrels on guns into arrows pointing back at the player

(I still disapprove of modding soldat in this way)

I have thought of these ideas before (some of them) but didnt feel like actually doing them.

Aboout size restrictions:
One time I downloaded 2 versions of soldat, a normal, and one for modding (im talking a LONG time ago though, like before 1.3.1). I made all of the gostek images like... 90x90, and went on a LAN server. It was SOOO FUNNYYY!!!! I couldnt join online servers though lol ;D

In same time anti-hack/camp/cheat mods can be also cheat mods, but health bars isn't cheating, only to make more arcade/oldschool/modern/strategy/tactical atmosphere or when interface suck and you have no time (too fast action) to watch amount of your life, they are more precise than interface progress and bleeding effect, nothing new, in old nintendo games, in Urban Chaos, ODT etc.

Maybe some modding tips:
-ramie.bmp is very strange in general, but as you notice, in game is rotated: ->, inside file is: <-'
-making interface guns faced right you can make them (illusion) longer and smoother, but this is not popular
-to keep you eye at health status, make health bar bigger, ammo bar little smaller, jet bar smaller than ammo
-in order to keep same style of all weapons in weaponset, try using similiar colors, more rounded outline and light source from one side: left, right, up, down.
-if you lost general concept of your weapon try first make few random details and choose best similiar to your concept from them, not important if this isn't same, first ideas are best
-make every part of weapon, interface, gosteks in same style, dont make like: handle is psychodelic, clip is futuristic, rest is modern. This rule apply to gosteks - all body parts in one theme not crossover. Interface may be simple but without highly contrasted colors which fight with themselves, forbidden is when health bar is detailed or have different theme to other elements
-best if only 3 styles of modding per one mod in mod team
-simplified details in mod, weapons not bigger than 16~17xYY and not too much colors, to prevent real colorful explosion in action
-in colors never use orange+blue, yellow+violet !
-for team2/bravo dont use too much colors because they will be not visible and you need to turn on clanmatch to see all details
