The 8800 GT is a better buy, in my opinion. The average price of one GT is about $300 AUD, which is a steal considering it performs almost as well as a GTX. Get two for about $600 AUD and run them in SLI, and you're a happy man with a badass computer.

This is exactly what I've been saying; however he's looking at non-SLI motherboards currently, so unless that changes, recommending an SLI solution is pointless.

I'd recommend you to wait a little longer. The GeForce 9 series are to be released in February. They will support DirectX 10.1 and Shader Model 4.1. Worth waiting for, it's only a few months.
