You Cant Just say that some combinations are better then others everyone is different, this means someone might kill more efficently with an auto and knife where others might kill with a barret and a ussocom .. theres no real good combination unless your good with it.  If Your unsure about the situation go with something your comfortable with and go from there =S

The Barrett and Spas/MP5 combo works pretty well for me.

if you want a gun for all situations, choose ruger and knife, if you want to be a hell rusher, Id say mp5 knife

Personally i Use teh rugar and SOCOM in every situation... works for me... But everyone has a different set up that suits them selves so its up to you to what is best.

For 3v1 I prefer Minimi because of it's damage output, accuracy, rate of fire and ammo capacity. Combined with knife, and of course, good usage of grenades.
This works especially well against snipers but you would struggle against rugers, there's no perfect combination. at the end of the day it depends  on whos shooting. The safest option would be to use Sniper and protect yourself between each shot but I don't like that style..

I use spas/socom, mostly, sometimes AK/Socom.  In both cases I'll drop the socom for the first primary I see, except for, sometimes, miniguns and sniper rifles.

Basically, I charge in with shotgun blazing (praying no one is in a good position with a 'nade launcher or sniper rifle).  When I run out of shells, I'll then switch to socom and slowly back away; generally, the impact from the spas makes everyone so disoriented and disorganized that it's easy to pick 'em off.  I also use the socom to advance more slowly over areas without much cover.

Let me preface this by saying: I'm a complete wierdo. 

I stick mostly to the m79, since it's great for one-hit kills, plus you don't need to be 100% accurate if your target isn't airborne.  Also, you can't sit still since everyone knows you're vulnerable for a long time after you fire - which isn't a problem if you're up for some flag running.

Ultimately, it's a team-play weapon.  Use it to keep the pros re-spawning and soften up anyone who gets in your way before you get shot/sploded.  I tend to use the AUG for small-team matches and zombie servers.

My favorite secondary is the socom since very few players seem to have the nack at dodging grenades *and* gunfire; especially during the same fight.  If you have a fast index finger, you can squeeze off rounds almost as fast as any of the automatics.  Plus, nobody expects a m79 wielding player to start spewing bullets at 'em.  As a bonus, there's no special learning curve required over any of the other guns.

Now I've seen people use shotguns to completely tear up the other team, especially on the smaller CTF maps.  It's peculiar side-effect of boosting you in mid-air, while knocking back anyone catching the buckshot, seems to be ultimate recipe for fast flag runs.  IMO, it's the least balanced of all weapons because of this, so you might do well to exploit that.
