If you're looking for a stealth melee kill, pack a knife. The chainsaw idle sound is part of its balance.

the sound is part of the saw. if you removed the sound it would ruin peoples saw related experiences.
also, the saw is NOT a stealthy weapon, it's heavy and bulky and difficult to wield.
if you want stealth you'd use the knife

To sum up my point: We had a multipage debate about toilet padding. (Putting TP in the water so you don't get splashed.)
And we still don't know if dead guys can keep a stiffy.

Is waving a deathly metal sheet with a chain going around it stealthy in ANY way? Especially when there's a DUG-DUG-DUG-DUG-DUG noise that accompanies it?
Don't say that you're Magic. Because you aren't, and I am.
All-around good with weapons that aren't long range, except in TW.
Now be careful out there, soldier.

Even without the constant noise, trying to be stealthy with the chainsaw is a fool's errand.  I mean, you can't just sneak up on someone without them seeing you in a 2D side-scroller like Soldat, and it's not smart to sit in a hiding place because they'll be guaranteed to figure it out the first time you get them, making it a one-shot deal.

You can sneak up on somebody with realistic mode turned on.

Ah, but that's realistic mode.  As in, more like real life.  As in, it would be rediculous to have a silent chainsaw in realistic mode.

The sound also makes a lot of lag, but I still like it so NO.
