F12, and minimap doesn't allow you to see players, an antfarm view would be cool.

Minimap DOES allow you to see players, just as dots. If you want to see how they look like, just spec THEM.
And, the minimap IS an antfarm view. Soldat is anyway. All 2D games are.

If you can't see them then it's just that the map's too big or the server's disabled em.

Hmm, I thought this was somehow available. It would definitely be nice for spectating clan matches and championships, cups, etc.

I read in a gaming magazine (PC gamer I believe) about a virtual version of a sports camera, where a professional cameraman could pan with what looked like a mounted camera and move from point to point in an FPS map. I think it was called Gamecast, and would be the next big tool for gaming as Spectator Sport.

For Soldat of course you wouldn't need an actual physical setup, but it reminded me of Gamecast, and similarly I guess, IF you could zoom out and into whereever the action was... almost like panning and zooming in and out of Hockey games. Sometimes they show the whole rink, to show player positions, then zoom into where puck is.

Or if it is just a fixed "antfarm" view, I still support it.

Overall, that would be a pretty neat implementation. F12. Another innovation for 1.4.3 :)

Go reg then. When something is shrunk, especially textures, soldaten, and guns, it looks like crap. And, giant maps like INF ones would also have to be resized. Small maps would be pointless, just use the normal spec.

You mean something like a "Global Map" Spectator position? That would be kinda cool, but how about this:

Enable a zoom function for spectator. The standard view is zoomed in or, maybe, the spectator can zoom in one 'click' closer. They can also zoom out to a certain extent-- small maps, they might be able to view the whole map zoomed all the way out, but on much larger maps they'll only get a good chunk of it.

I don't think it would work well zooming the whole way out on a map due to some sizes of some maps. However, I think it's a good enough idea that something should be implemented to partially support it. That's my idea: enable a zooming-enabled camera for spectators to use, basically, and put a limit on how close and how far they can zoom to avoid problems on larger maps.
