how do i make this sig work?

First of all html code will not work on the forum.
you will have to use forum code:

Even if you could... the first is still too big, and I've tried getting one a little bigger cropped and resized, they look like crap after that.

More then likely its cause you aren't that active. People that post only in certain parts of the forum usually get away with stuff like that longer.
