Bounty HunterZ -under progress-
« on: December 21, 2007, 05:33:09 pm »
Well well, if it isn't one of my unfinished projects.

Okay, the concept here:
All players are some kind of bounty hunters, with bounties on each others heads. The point of this mod is to be cheery rather than serious, and so has no further depth in it's story ;)

It started by me trying out new styles, and I found that I love this one. I dunno if it's cel-shading or what, but it's fun and looks cool imo. Even though the weapons look quite simple, a lot of work has been implemented on their shapes, ideas and areas of shading.

Contains:
- New Gosteks (only for alpha yet)
- 4 Primary and 2 Secondary weapons
- New explosion sparks (I drew them pixel by pixel, don't judge them too hard :D)
- New spawn spark (Quite useless really, but I'm proud of it ^_^)
- New interface. It was originally for the next version of the apocalyptic mod, but decided to use it here too. I will modify it to fit the style better.

Comment and Enjoy. I'd like especially feedback on balancing, weapon concepts and the interface graphics.

PS: I originally decided to not show this unless it would be 100% complete, but you know me. Or don't actually, but you get the idea.

Something similiar to my style but completely different (mine is more gothic, paranoid, maniacal/obsessed, also every pixel must perfectly fit to outline which must stay visible with details on it, shadows, lighting integrated with entire shading etc)
I like weapons design, colors, interface, but shading at weapons is little too basic, I put more attention into your modding creativity with looking forward to the future projects ;)
When you decide to finish your apocalyptic mod?

Thank you.

One of things in this style is: Only 4 colors of shading: Basic; Dark; Bright and Highlight.

The Apocalyptic mod is still in progress, I've drawn the new interface (shown here), Socom and new gosteks. I'll have more time during the vacation now.

Oh yeah, forgot to say. This mod was 100% inspired by the cover of TimeSplitters 2 <3

Two new weapons added: Burst Rifle & Sniper Rifle.

I'll add a download link when I make more, no sense in creating one every second.

About the mod overview: The goal of the Bounty HunterZ is to create a mod which is all-around playable, keeping the simple cel-shaded style. That is also why I name the weapons f.e. "sniper rifle", instead of Sl8: To keep it general, not too based on the reference model. Unlike my previous two mods, this one is cheerier and lighter. The graphics base on shapes and exaggeration, which I think works nicely. Your opinion is the one that counts, though ;)

Here's the interface-only version ;)

Beware: Contains also a new cursor and mouse icon.

This looks really cool!  4/5

I would like to see what it looks like when it's done!

Hehe, wow. I never imagined this would be revived ;)

I made 3 more weapons a while ago, but I'm having trouble with a personalized interface. The one in the image is reserved for the apocalyptic mod v.2 (which is no where near completition) and I need to make a new one. I have the rest of the weapons planned out.

I haven't modded for nearly 2 weeks now, basically because I was away and then I got an Xbox with Call of Duty 4, which keeps me busy. Now my 1 week old xbox broke, so I might return to modding during the weekend (or re-play Mario Galaxy with Luigi :D)

Anyways, thanks for your interest.

balancing, weapon concepts and the interface graphics
Balance suggestion:
3 Acid Rain - reduce clip to 60, make smaller interval, little increase bink, make medium recoil, little stronger, faster reload.
4 Ray Blaster - longer reload, smaller damage, bigger interval, little increase bink, make small~medium recoil.
5 Rusty Shotgun - smaller damage, bigger interval, slower reload.
6 Magnum - smaller damage, 6 rounds, bigger interval between shots, long reload (but not too big in compare to other weapons and magnum damage.
*3 Beam Projector -  smaller clip 70~80, little faster reload.
---
Weapon concepts:
- M79 as cannon mixed with modern grenade launchers and medieval cannon ball, some elements of slingshot.
- Short range, custom-made flamethrower, that shot small flame waves, similiar to Acid Rain but completely oposse.
- Personal, simple rocket launcher?, that shot strange substance, which explode at enemy, causing fire (possible... law+flames, one big shot?)
---
Interface graphics:
- (Health) - mad psycho in green helmet with big, bloody eyes and insane smile.
- (Gun) - ugly, hairy hand in cutted glove and fat fingers.
- (Ammo) - black-blue wooden box with scary skull mixed with Pacman.
- (Jet/Gas) - yellow-brown substance inside green oval canister mounted between two metal rods. Also strange button on that canister.

This mod finally motivated me to revive my Lust School project because something is similiar and I found same fun with both unfinished projects, my mod and yours. Why? Similiar style of mods, similiar idea but different theme:

Thanks a lot, I'm terrible at balancing.

I really like the cannon ball idea, I will propably implement it next. If I remember correctly, you can't change the Spas reloading time, but I'll re-check it. I'll work on that cannon ball and some sort of electric weapon next.

I appreciate the interface ideas, but I like symbols more than actual objects (hands, mad psychos) ;)
AND I got an idea for it. I might update soon

Late Edit: I lost the couple of new weapons I had done with my hard drive and I doubt I will ever complete this.
