America also has a good amount of the worlds population.  Statistically, we're more likely to have incidents like this.  (And don't bring up China or India as places that should have more gun violence.  Half of their populations can't even afford a box to live in, much less have access to a firearm.)

Since the Chinese and the Indians don't have the access to firearms that we do, their children don't go around shooting each other?! Couldn't agree more.

Obviously if you take away guns, you take away gun violence.  That doesn't make it a good choice.  For example, we could eliminate the national debt by returning to the barter system.  We could stop hackers by getting rid of all computers.  We could prevent car accidents by producing only bicycles.

Should we stop people from owning guns? Of course not.  Should we keep firearms inaccessible to people like this killer? Definitely.  Let upright citizens buy and use guns, but keep them hidden or locked away.  That way they'll be available to the people who need them, and unavailable to the people who don't.

Only anime shows I've felt any interest in over the years are Pokemon (original TV series) and various hentai.
so clearly jgrp is a goddamn anime connoisseur. his opinion might as well be law here.

...someone remind me why this seems to happen most often in the States?

Theres only a few hundred million people in the States. Compare that to the whole of Europe, Russia, South America, Africa, Australia, Japan, Mexico, Canada, the Mediterranean, etc..
Numbers do not equate to America having more of a chance of shootings in schools occurring. What does?

I was thinking about it..one of the main differences that comes to mind is the "melting pot" nature of the country itself.  Maybe not the mish-mash of cultures, so much as a general ignorance of a clear plan for the future.  Maybe it's wrong to say, but when I think about other countries and America, I get the impression that elsewhere people's plans and goals are more defined..where as over here, people run up against a brick wall and freak out.

Just my two bits.

Neither am I.  Lack of sleep does that to me sometimes.  Trying to take some stab at society.
