Back when I had a laptop with DX7, I found Soldat in Gamehippo. I downloaded it but I realized I couldn't play it! So a year or so later, I got a new desktop and I went over to the Soldat site and downloaded it. Fast forward two years: fiddling with the same ancient laptop, I decided to update the driver to DX8. Then I found out my hardware doesn't support DX8. Absolutely smashing.

For some reason i was snooping in a Liero clan site (when i used to play that game) and found out they were also a Soldat clan as well. I had dial-up by then so i couldn't even open the main page! Later on when i had embraced the magnificant-ness of broadband net i went back - and thats how it began..

I discovered it by my brother that was in 9th grade programing class and they used to play it at lunch time...but now they fucking suck...they play BF 1942...insted of soldat...but if you play soldat in the class when they are playing BF they say to go fuckmyself because I am playing soldat and that soldat supposedly sucks...

since found it in gamehippo ... and it is 1.3.1 and all the weapons are so overpowered
but im still searching for a game that is better than soldat...... but in years of searching i never found one.... SOLDAT is still the best 2D game

Searched the internet for free action/shooter games. Came across this site and found that Soldat had high ratings. Tried and couldn't stop ever since.

I got a game called Stick soldiers off some cd, but i always hated aiming with the mouse, and one day i went on the forums for sticksoldiers and i noticed someone saying you should be able to aim like in soldat, so I checked it out and viola
