Decimal values in weapons.ini
« on: July 04, 2008, 05:41:52 am »
I haven't played soldat in months now, but I recently got an idea.

Well right now in the weapons.ini, you have values like:
fireinterval= 6

My idea was, why it couldn't support decimal values, like:
fireinterval=4,3

It would be great for values like bink, fire intervals, startup, damage, speed and recoil.
that way we could have more accurate tweaks.

Actually, I think this is redundant.

I mean, the values are small enough by itself without using the decimals to make a small difference. I'd say F11 for this idea in particular.

I agree with STM, What is point one of a binking point going to do? you can just round up or down if you REALLY want to tweak it that badly...
Lol, internets.

At least FireInterval is one attribute that would benefit from this. When changing the interval on minigun from 4 ticks to 3, that's a 33% increase in output, yet only one unit lower. What if I wanted just 10%? =(

Though this would likely require a huge rewrite of the game as it uses these ticks for measuring time, and they cannot be floating values.

Yes, somewhat good for fireint tweaks, but as far as I know it's ... impossible without making Soldat's requirements much higher.

And for dmg, bink and others : What's the difference between 100 and 100,5? It isn't even 1%.

Right, fireinterval. It makes a big difference to autos, but ya.

Anyway, I don't think this change is needed. At least for now.

Why wouldn't it be needed? It is a great addition anyway, and should be implemented if possible. Gives more freedom for modding, which is ALWAYS good.
