Queries from a noob

Hi Im new and i was just wondering a few things.

Firstly, why are there so few server games with realistic mode? Is it that people dont like it? Or am I just going on at all the wrong times?

Secondly whats the problem with camping? If you have a camper and he kills you the first time then you bloody well know where he's gonna be and where to shoot the second time wont you? Is it really that hard to figure out a pre-emptive strike?

Thirdly whenever im chasing someone (particularly with a flag) they always seem to run faster than me, is there some kind of running technique i dont know of or is that just lag?
Third-and-a-halfly, sometimes i see people zipping around really quickly, is that lag again or some kind of cheat/hack?

Lastly, whats battle eye violation? I got kicked for it once and i dont even know what it is. Im assuming its something to do with seeing where people are as a spectator or something then killing them, but i didnt do that.

Anyone care to illuminate?

2: There isn't one. The people who whine about it are the one who are too stupid to change their tactics to kill one.

3: Bunny hopping, rolling when you're going over the top of a hill (more for direction that speed; if timed right you'll keep up most of your momentum while going straighter forward than if you bunny-hopped.)  cannonballing (turning around , jumping backwards, and executing a backflip at the right time to send you directly forward instead of up in the air. Great for a speed boost, but can screw you up if you time it wrong.) and supermanning. (proning in midair, and un-proning before you hit the ground). There's also the fact that, if you're behind him, every bullet you hit him with is making him go faster because of the bullet push.

3.5: Typically lag.

4: BattleEye is soldat's anti-cheat program, and you'll sometimes get kicked if you haven't downloaded the latest version or do something that makes it think you're cheating.

I think people just do not like realistic mode. Probably because of falling damage and not being able to see other players behind walls. Although realistic mode has several really fun game modes: Trenchwars, Tactical Trenchwars, Counter Strike, etc.

Thanks for the info, that bullet push thing makes little sense though but i guess if soldat obeyed the laws of physics it wouldnt be fun.

Another thing i forgot to ask is that when ever i make a server after i quit and go to the lobby i see my server and for some reason it has 9999 ping even though no-ones on it. Is there something up with that?

edit: Is there some kind of football like game mode where you have a flag in the middle and you have to get it to the other teams goal or something, abit like capture the flag but with only one flag.

And there are two pretty similar default game modes.



Hold The Flag (HTF) + Infiltration (INF)



For HTF (it's pretty fun but not many people play it), you and your team are gonna try and get the Yellow flag somewhere in the middle and hold it for as long as possible, while the other team will try to kill you and steal the flag. It's a bit like capture the flag or team match, except that you don't need to bring it to any goal ; just hold it.



For INF, it's more like CTF, except Red team steals the black flag and brings it back to their own white flag while Blue team guards that black flag from being stolen, earning points as long as it stays in the base or not captured.

There are three ways a INF map may be like, usually the first option:
1. The black flag is located at the Blue base, which is heavily fortified so it makes it hard to capture the black flag. The white flag, on the other hand, is located at the Red base.

2. Same as 1, except that the white flag is found near the black flag or somewhere closer to the blue base.

3. The black flag is with the Red team instead, but the white flag is located at the Blue base.

1. Realistic mode, while it isn't as popular as Normal mode, is primarily played by Europeans. So if you are a player from North America, then yes, chances are you are playing at the wrong time (although, in the early afternoon-ish times, you shouldn't have trouble finding people who are playing).

2. People are stupid.

3. Been answered, hopping while running.

3 1/2. Could be lag, could be them getting boosted from an explosion from a m79 or grenade or LAW missile, or getting pushed by a spas.
