Best way to do Stairs
« on: January 16, 2009, 08:32:45 am »
Hey I'm working on a multi-story map, does anyone have a good idea of how to do stairs without being buggy? I have a stair scenery, and i just put a slim invisible poly about half up it that leads to the top, that way people can keep on running, or stop and jump up and walk up the slant. Any better ideas?

I usually do em like this(notice how the "stairs" are doesn't collide, and the invisible red polygons that fix the polybugs)

yeah it's pretty much the only non glitchy option unless you make the stairs really big, which....isn't a great idea

I do my stairs the same way as zakath, but I make them 50% smaller. It just seems to look better.

My method is slightly different. This style eliminates polybugs without invisible polygons, and still has the correct slope angle for grid-based stairs.

my stairs are aligned with the grid, but theres "polybounce" at some places.
