Speaking of polluted-airs, I've checked it out, and it really efffects the marathon runners alot. When Kenneth Rundell of Marywood University in PA had tested 15 college hockey players bike flat out for 6min, breathing first low, then high particulate air; and by their second ride in the polluted air, the subjects' performance had decreased an average of 5.5%. That's about a loss of 7 min for marathoners..... So yeah, no way in hell they were able to set a new record in marathon.

That's actually quite interesting. I wouldn't have thought that air pollution would have that much of an effect on marathon runners.
