So this is more of a publicity stunt rather than a game worth playing. Oh poo.

How many people does it take to fill up a WOW server?
I would guess several thousand, but who would want to spend the money on such an expensive server if you don't collect monthly?

Hows your C++ skills 4yo? Wanna build a 300 slot FPS for PC? (Charge monthly of course)
who would buy an FPS that charges monthly?

Let them download it from free and give then the first month free. Super fast, large servers.
I would pay to have a server I could always join and had a low ping in.
A server that supports so many more people would have to be much larger than your average BF2 server. And a free month wouldn't exactly offset the multi million dollar budget.

Blah, why do you have to be so negative. Our society lacks dreamers.
Super sizing what we have now is not innovation, this is not dreaming, this is another fiscally retarded attempt by sony to showcase the power of their system.

The game is supposed to utilize hoards upon hoards of small squads. They would probably consist of around 8 people, and each squad is supposed to have allied and enemy squads.

Something along those lines. It looks interesting, but not interesting enough for me to grab wank paper.

So making a 12 foot popover isn't innovative even including the method to make it possible?

SA:MP has a maximum capacity of 320 players. Although everyone there justs ram cars into each other.

Shall I be so bold as to point out that it's actually 200?

I'm expecting in MAG they will use some cheap trick to reduce lag... probably ignoring anything that is happening beyond a players view distance. Assuming the maps are large enough you're probably not going to have more than 50 people in your immediate area anyway. I have a feeling it will be more of an MMO disguised as an FPS.

This looks amazing, really.

I'd take a good MMOFPS, sure. It's not a novel concept, but it's one that has yet to be executed well.

The SA:MP development team limited the servers to 200 players but its netcode can supports up to 320.

So it's maximum capacity is 200 players but it has the potential capacity of 320. The way you said it implied that it was actually possible for there to be 320 players on a server.

Sorry, I have this habit of correcting people who are incorrect on any scale.

Yes, especially when others figured out how to do it before you.

Putting down 1k for upgrading a computer won't help, I mean wouldn't get very lagging with 265 people?
If not, then I guess upgrading would be a good choice. This is very interesting, I can't to see whats in store for another 10-20 years in gaming.
256 models on the screen without having to render AI is not very tasking at all, just hope the connection is good.

although a full server would probably never happen (all the ps3 owners playing together at once!) I think this is a pretty stupid idea. Whenever they try to set a new standard they put all their effort into making it actually work and no effort into the actual game. The jet car trying to set a land speed record doesn't have any of the comforts of your average toyota.

Besides, getting 128 people to use teamwork would be the biggest struggle in terms of gameplay, not to mention some douche in a jet could just bomb the hell out of a whole company of players.
Sorry for late response.

Alright then. If it doesn't lag my machine, I'll be more than happy to play it, but after reading some further post I heard it was only for ps3. Shame,  such a game like this doesn't need to be wasted on such a limited console... Am I right? I mean, this kind of game would probably take the ps3 to a whole/final level.  No other fps can really compete against this, player wise that is.

That looks like mad fun

I guess if you ignore my whole point about how much this game is going to suck you should pick up a ps3 just for this one game.

Not really, I was just saying on a ps3 view. Of course, I'll never get a ps3 so why bother.

Since when did BF2 crash and burn in teamwork? Maybe in publics but you cant expect that kind of teamwork in publics anyway.

You can when you go in with 2-3 friends and squad it up. Suddenly you have to make up for the lack of skill from your teammates. Can be very challenging at times, but fun ;)

as long as my idiot in a jet is slightly better than your idiot in a jet, my team wins.
