I keep having problems

I used to be able to run soldat perfectly but I had to reformat my computer due to a problem and now I get 2 errors
1. Error starting program
The d3d8.dll file is linked to missing export ddraw.dll:lockcb.
2.C:\soldat\soldat.exe
C:\soldat\soldat.exe
A device attached to the system is not functioning.

I'm pretty sure my video card is updated to its last update.

Humm... Try going into c:\soldat and deleting the d3d8.dll file. That could be causing the problem. And since you're using intergraded graphics I would recommend getting yourself a new graphics card as 6.4mb is really little these days, and your processor is really old.

try reinstalling DirectX, I'm not sure which version is required. but just try DirectX 9.

I think the d3d8.dll got something to do with the DirectX.

You are most likely receiving that error due to your graphics card (er... I mean, inbuilt graphics accelerator) being to old to support the version of DirectX required by Soldat. Although you have version 8.1 installed (minimum required), your card (I mean accelerator) is most likely only able to support up to version 7, thus the error.

It could be your OS I tried playing soldat on win 98 back in 1.2.1 but it didn't work. But when I tried it on win 98 Second Edition it worked flawlessly.

Thanks to everyone who replied but the thing is soldat used to work before I had to reformat my computer so I'm thinking that the problem I have can be fixed.
And buying a new computer is out of the question  :(.
