M79 quick disscussion

OK, so today i was doing a skrimish with a different clan, not knowing how they played, me and my clan are a tw clan, and they apperntly are on regular, so we join their server, and it was going okay, and all they did was pull out the m79(the whole clan)  and they beat us consideribly

my question, is it NOT noobish to use m79 in excess like they did?

So you're saying your team is unskilled and can't handle "noobs." Learn to deal with it. Swarms of any weapon can be annoying if your team can't adjust to it. I find autos to be far worse than M79 groups -- at least the handful of M79 volleys won't bink and kill like hundreds of bullets flooding the screen can.

I personally believe that it is wrong to discredit someone's victory because they used all the tools their rules made available to them.  I know that isn't the point of what you are asking, but i wanted to say that.

And any gun that should be used, yet not "to excess", is overpowered, imho.  Have you read my m79 idea umkthx? (vote yes)

Shouldn't this be in Soldat Moments? You can't say a weapon is over powerrd just becaue its very powerfull in large numbers (if thats what you're saying).

Although the M79 is very annoying and sometimes lame, you just have to get used to it and not run up to them so much to widen the gap when they run to you.

 Agreed. Like I said in papercut's topic about m79s and barrets being possibly unfair, in a CTF match, public or clanwar, they're a lot easier to deal with then autos, with a million sprays at your face galore.

What did you guys use? If you guys used autos, and used them well it should have been tougher for them to kill you. Personally, I'd be embarassed. -_-'

That problem is easily solved by switching to AK-74, Ruger, Barret, or some other long range weapon.  If they want to handicap themselves by using the m79, it should be their problem, not yours.

well  it was supposed to be a 2v2, but they kept adding members randomly, but that's other than what im trying to say.

well my team ate tried to use the m79 with out me, but he wasnt to good...so it didnt help anyway...ok what ever.

I think the M79 should be more restricted, like have a delay like the Barret or at least make the loading time a little longer. It's really ridiculous fighting against a swarm of people with M79s...unless you use a M79, youre toast.

I find that it is very easy to not get destroyed by an m79
1. keep your distance, you must not try to rush them
2. use either an m79 or long range weapon to pick them off,
3. Stay in groups, it's basic, you know it.
4. keep your ground.

Yeah, that's really good...rush several people who have short-range, one hit kill weapons with a short range weapon of your own.  You'll be able to kill one, if you're lucky.  OTOH, If you break out the AK-74, you can take them out before they're really in range.

the m79, on most maps, really isnt crazy strong, besides its spawnkilling power.  Long range autos like ak 74, or other long ranges can bink it and kill it and stay away from it.  I oppose it as it is, though, because it can do what the spas does in a one-hit kill (super close range). The spas-12 has to make two hits.

That's why i support either stronger splash damage or my "m79 idea" (name of thread), alond with giving a little more shot speed so it is a mid-range only gun.
