CTF GG - my return to mapping scene
« on: December 04, 2008, 03:52:52 am »
Description: Simple CTF map for classic CTF mix 3*3 or 4*4. I haven't been mapping for a long time, so my mapping skills aren't as good as they were someday. Anyway this map deserves some attention, gameplay seem to be intresting.
More maps coming soon. Also i'm going to fix all broken links to my old stuff/  :D

Waypoints: Yes, for both teams.

Recommended Players: 6-8

The visuals look great, map has been added to #soldat.mapping so I will comment on the gameplay when we have played it.

Indeed, I dunno what's going now. Many oldies have started mapping again. Kamikazeduck, Chakapoko, Mr. America and now you, also have seen Boxo around. ElSpec/Specialist you still keep saying mapping is dead and forums going down?

About map itself, this is the first normal ctf map that I see from you. Texture is stunning. The looks are nice. Im liking the fact that this isn't overscenerized like some of your old maps.

At the moment, I'm bored at mirrored maps so this is nice change to that.

Yay YAY YAYA, you used to be my favorite mapper, and then you left :(
About the map:
Graphics are, like always, awesome. Nothing more to say there.
Bases are a bit simple, but ok.

...

Man I can never come up with good criticism for your maps because they look so good. MAKE MORE OF THEM. Please.

Map looks outstanding. 3 Routes might be one too much for a map of this size (one of them will usually go completely unplayed in 3v3 competitive). Another issue is that the top route is better from blue while the low route is better from red (There is a huge difference in usefulness due to flag placements). If either of those routes turns out in general to be significantly less useful, one of the teams will be at a large disadvantage.

Ill let you know more after playtesting it.

Full of rich scenes out there. I like the tactful terrain and scenery, maybe it's the best use of Soldat world. Bot works and spawn setting is reasonable. Hurrah for your comeback!

you should retexture and bugfix each default map in soldat, that'd rock.

The Gameplay on this map is indeed interesting the paths are as Poop mentioned that the high path is better for bravo and low is better for alpha also the building in the middle of the map serves some tactical purposes. All in all a well though through and well built map. If its totally balanced I can't really say needs to be played a lot more to determine that.

You shoosh, unless he's said it fairly recently... A while back (7-8 months/sometime around there), the whole scene was going downhill.

Sweet, all these oldies makes me want to rejoin in full throttle again (heh, yea right..).

The background transitions look lovely.  I was using a similar idea in the last map I was fiddling around with.

And I'm liking your old avatar (:
