The layout looks very promising. Nice ideas there. The map is just TOO HUGE, if you don't have ideas to make your map bigger, don't solve that by making it bigger scale to have "default size". I would resize this to 60-70 percent.
Shading looks fine. Lacks scenery but that's easy to develop.
