What the title says. Btw, fix this once and for all, it's getting annoying.

What about adding alternate sites where download the lobby? So if one fails, there are others.

There are plenty of alternative lobbies, but everyone is too ignorant to use the search function or google.

Exactly, the majority of players don't even know about these forums or they don't care.

...did you click the links? Doesn't those on their own suffice as a backup alternative?

And no.

Or maybe those two are not up to par for the lobby itself; ie. there is no good replacement for the lobby (so far). Game Monitor only shows 44 servers in the list, and soldathq shows them all but they are all supposedly empty - even when the server details say otherwise. IF SoldatHQ has that problem fixed, then its an awesome alternative - but until then the lobby needs to be fixed.

Sure I clicked them. Though I did not find a server that likes me. I meant if I am able to add these to the Soldat's Request servers to look for servers in more than one site adding these URL's...

all games suffer when the lobby server goes down. sure, bigger games got greater security and backup alternatives. but soldat is a small (but yet brilliant) game, thus few back up alternatives.

if I'm not wrong, selfkill had some lobby server backup, this might just have been a fix from previous lobby server failures.

Here is an explanation of what is going on, so that the mindless bitching can stop:

Tusday morning, around 8am my firewall crashed.  I don't know why.  Around 6-8 hours later, we got it back up, and then within the next hour or two we switched the firewall to new hardware.  This new hardware has crashed twice now and I am working on finding out what is causing it.  If I cannot find out what is causing it within the next 24 hours or so (e.g. if it keeps crashing regardless of what I try) I will work on a more drastic change that will result in a permanent solution.

It is an intermittent problem so it is extremely hard for me to track down, I have no way of just causing it to happen instantly for troubleshooting purposes.

The lobby is still running in a virtual machine on a private network.  This firewall performs a lot of tasks for services, servers and networks that I administer.  One of those tasks is translating outside requests to the internal network for the lobby.

I am full aware of the problem and have been working on it as much as I can.  It hasn't been down all that often/long so far and it hasn't crashed in ~ 6 hours or so now.  I will keep monitoring it and hopefully end up with a permanent solution soon.
