ctf_carp layout suggestions
« on: January 07, 2009, 02:03:34 am »
Hi.

To start off...other than the, er, POLY-art stuff I've been doing recently, I've been working on a small CTF map on the side, ctf_canti-inspired stuff.

I've been trying to come up with a good layout design, one that has easy-to-reach flags, but may or may not be very easy to defend, hard to escape with flag, a bottomless pit, and extremely fast routes.

It's also supposed to be for advanced CTF-ers, one that is capable of doing delayed jumps especially when coming in to the flag straight from middle part or low route. Given the size of this map in-game, it's pretty hard to get a clean sniping shot, despite the screenshot.

So here is the screenshot and the download folder, with waypoints that work somewhat.

EDIT: Updated both screenshot and .zip file

Since bottom and middle are supposed to be very stiffy, I think the top route entrances should give easier access to bridge, now player can just camp the bridge and cos of stiffy hole and high ground. Remember to give some candies for bottom route, medics or something cos atm it doesn't have much use.

Looks promising, simple and small, I like it.

Here a little suggestion for the bottom route:
Make a little island in the middle of the pit, then put there a medi- and a grenade-kit and and the route will be playable :)

What about a colliding cole in front of the flagspawns?

I updated the map, made the top route less steep and re-shaded the whole thing.

Yeah it looks good. I like the scenery colour, the purple suites the type of map format you have. Make a bridge for the bottom route and maybe add a poly in the middle for less spray and pray. The middle needs most work but the rest seems good. The low is also just one straight route, try to be more creative with your maps. As for the rest, working well.
Football is the other face of the world. If you don't like it, then you can get the hell out!
