Guide on how to use HK Mp5
« on: January 12, 2009, 11:15:26 pm »
HK-Mp5 is one of the most unique weapons soldat has. It's fast pace and incredible burst fire allows it to be a very deadly and mass weapon. I have some tips on how to use it most effictively.

When using the HK-Mp5 always have a knife as your backup weapon (secondary) because the knife is a very quick and versatile weapon. This weapon will save you in most occasions when you run out of bullets etc.

When using the HK always try to move as quick as possible, and try to get as close to your opponent as possible. The HK's ability to shoot so rapid it will leave your opponent wondering. When shooting, try to prone as much as much as possible, this will increase the accuracy when shooting and allow you to shoot in-line with what your aiming for.

If your opponent is at far distance away from you, you should always move your cursor above the enemy and have your cursor nearing the end of your screen (if your shooting towards the right or left). This will give you longer shooting and will glide the bullets more effectively towards the far opponent. Remember to always try and get as close to your opponent as possible because the HK will dominate any automatic weapon at short distances, in a very fast time.

Whenever battling or fighting opponents close or far, try to reload as much as you can. The HK's incredibly fast reload will help you gain precious bullets in need.

Some other useful tips are to try and get around your opponents when using the HK because it will allow you more space to get around and shoot your opponent because of your fast gun. Try to aim right in the centre of your opponent when up-close and try to aim above your opponent when at a far distance from your opponent. Reload whenever necessary, even if it's 5 or 10 bullets, it's quick reload won't let you down. Remember it's bullets glide through the air so don't be afraid to shoot far.

I hope this guide has helped you in any way to using the HK-Mp5. If you would like to comment on the guide, feel free and give your thoughts. Thanking you for taking the time to read this guide.

When you are right by your opponent you should go for the head.

Remember that the mp5 runs through bullets faster than Sgt Mac (thinking of that scene when he shoots the minigun for like a minute straight), so try not to spray unless you are sure you can do damage, as the mp5 is inefficient at long ranges.

Also, proning is usually a bad idea because (unless you are superman) it stops you in place, which is a major no-no when using mp5.

mp5 is an awesome gun for rushing and defending. Like you said, movement is absolutely necessary in it's use. Get close, kill, grab a heal, keep moving.
It's a good gun.

Actually proning is a really good idea if you know how to aim properly with the HK, its like in direct damage and aim in a straight line if you know how to use the HK correctly.

I keep the mouse sensitivity on the default soldat comes with, but different sensitivities work better on different people, I would recommend leaving it on the default.

MP5's not really THAT unique. I'd consider it an automatic, Primary version of Socom.

The MP5's advantage lies in speed, whether in firing rate or reload speed. At close range, it has excellent DOT.

Unfortunately, the MP5 is extremely weak over long ranges, and ever since it has its damage greatly reduced over the past versions, it has become overshadowed by the Steyr Aug. It can become inaccurate at times especially over long distances (though its self-bink is very low and controllable, and it has no movementacc). It eats ammo very quickly (you can easily spend half a clip trying to kill someone even though you only need about 9-11 shots depending on the range), but fortunately you have a quick reload. Always reload whenever you can.

Due to short range/low bullet speed, the MP5 also suffers greatly if you try to use it to shoot enemies who are flying above you. Try to be above your opponent instead.

Proning and shooting is a bad idea despite the increased accuracy unless you are very sure it would work, because it would make you extremely predictable in movement (you either don't move, or you jet in this position).

As for using a secondary, any Secondary works well with the MP5 (maybe except Socom, which is quite pointless in this case). Knife allows for a quick 1-hit kill whenever necessary. LAW is excellent for backing up the MP5's short range, providing a 1-hit kill and ground-vs-air support. The chainsaw is just an extra to give you strong melee ability.

For mouse sensitivity, it is generally better to use high sensitivity since it is an automatic + you need to rush with the MP5 (defending with an MP5 is not easy due to its short range), but it is your preference.

How to use mp5 : It's a close range weapon, so get close to your enemy unless he's using spas or m79 and spray him. Aim as good as you can. Practice.

From what I've found through personal expierences (I only use MP5/Knife, on almost all occasions) , the MP5 and Knife against an M79 always wins. Just dodge appropriately and through your knife at his head when you're reloading.

Key point of MP5 is knowing how to dodge, which is hard to teach and needs practice. LAW is an effective option other than knife, saw on very few maps. I generally say the opposite of going prone and never ever stop moving and keep shooting. Although if I use MP5 its usually Alpha on Inf.

I use HK/Steyr with saw and it works well imo, just remember HK will be made a much lighter weapon next version

first off - less bullet push to all weapons so HK will have more difficulty keeping enemies at bay (something I like about it is the ability to keep them still while spilling their guts, which could get very difficult if the current changelog holds true), and the range will be longer but with less bullet damage (sending it more in the direction of the AUG).  Q.Q imo.  all we really need next version is the Minigun buffed.

They're usually good for spamming in point blank. But just to tell you, when you're going to shoot across half the screen of your computer, make sure to raise up around 20~30 degrees. It takes around 9~10 bullets to kill a person also.

Nade pretty much has the range of MP5 when rushing, + you do more damage.

k...
MP5 goes well with knife for rushing, but sometimes it's useful to have a LAW, as MP5 is limited by its short range.  Then of course, you could kill someone with your LAW and hope they got a longer range auto like minimi or AK, and steal it for use in open/longrange battles

Nice guide, I'm sure that when I'll use Mp5 that I will have a knife as a secondary weapon and I'll try to follow your other advices as well.
Good job ;)
