A simple noob question...
« on: March 26, 2009, 03:35:16 pm »
Alright this is a really noob-ish question to ask, but I'm stuck :-[.

Okay, in iDante's tutorial, I have downloaded Notepad++, but then it says open your dedicated server and make a new folder. How do you do this? I see where it says Dedicated Server, but it's just a MS-DOS fle that opens up soldat. Do you make a new folder someone in here, or am I missing something entirely? Also, I usually run Soldat off of my thumbdrive, if that makes a difference...

Plz Help!

You need to download the actual dedicated server, that your trying to run is not really the server, here is a link to the latest one. --- http://forums.soldat.pl/index.php?board=38.0

Okay ty for that but I have one more question:

Do I just click on this server and start putting in folders and following iDante's tutorial, or do I need to copy this file and place it somewhere else? Also, the above isn't true, then what do I need to do so that I can simply start putting folders into it.

After you download the file unzip the .zip file somewhere (desktop probably) and open the folder. There should be different folders like Scripts, Logs, and Maps. Put your .pas script in its own folder in the scripts folder, with the includes.txt. The includes.txt should just contain the name of your script.

Open up the folder soldatserver263 then scripts.
The file README.txt has a very good explanation of how to install scripts.
Or you can copy an existing script you have and rename the folder.

In order to play on a server like this first open it up and then open soldat. Put "localhost" into the IP slot and the default port (23073) into the port spot.
