Using Git on Windows from an Ubuntu server
« on: March 27, 2009, 09:52:44 am »
I know some of you guys here know computers, so I figured this is as good a place as any to ask.  I've been using SVN on my server for some time, but now I have these Linux types telling me that Git is far superior in every single way.  So naturally, I tried setting it up.  I'm using msysgit and TortoiseGit on the Windows side of things, and I think I have the repository set up correctly on the Ubuntu side.  So what URL would I use to access it (on a local network)? Does anyone here have experience with this sort of thing?

Only anime shows I've felt any interest in over the years are Pokemon (original TV series) and various hentai.
so clearly jgrp is a goddamn anime connoisseur. his opinion might as well be law here.

I think the access url would be: git://ip_of_server/project_name
There are other worlds than these

I keep hearing things about git too. I have not given it a chance since I know svn so well and it is still widely supported. I bet it beats the pants off source safe.

O god, there are still certain places at work that are using source safe. It is a terrible thing.

I heard that Microsoft doesn't even use it internally.
