FPS problems!
« on: May 19, 2009, 10:24:28 pm »
I have the latest video drivers/DirectX version. Autodemo is off. Video compatibility is on, backbuffer count = 1, 16-bit mode.

Soldat will randomly drop about 10 FPS for a while and become a little choppy (usually for ~10-20 seconds), then go back to a smooth framerate. I have had this problem in the past, but have forgotten how I fixed it (or if I even fixed it at all, sometimes weird soldat stuff seems to fix itself.)

Any suggestions on how to remedy this?

EDIT: Running it in fullscreen fixes it, but I really don't want to have to play in fullscreen. Apparently my FPS is unstable in windowed, rapidly moving throughout the 200-300 range. In fullscreen, it stays 60.

LoL, you're complaining about 10 fps for a moment? I am playing with 3-10 fps all the time.

What I have noticed is that it will lag less if you change in soldat.ini
Code: [Select]
KillConsole_Length=3
MainConsole_Length=3
those 2 lines of code to something around I have posted.

That's only if the lag is caused by text drawing. My guess is it's some app running in the background (might be something using embeded flash clips like msn or some other messenger).

Yeye. But I'm now using some lame comps. I'm shutting down as many process as I can but it's FPS are getting low. So I have chaneged those 2 lines and it helped.

Still experiencing this. Nothing seems to help, and none of my other programs are afflicted.
