DVD Recorder Question

Ok people here's what i got a question about. My dad just got a DVR, and he wants to back up what he watches on a DVD. I have a question on how we can go about doing this.

We simply want to put the DVD recorder in between the DVR and the TV. Then what he will do is simply start recording on the DVD when he hits play on the DVR. Kinda like dubbing a tape. So he will just be recording whatever video is coming out of the DVR, and still have it going to the TV. I don't really see why this wouldn't work.

Is there any reason why this wouldn't work?

Well we dont have it, sooooooooooooooo unless you wana send me one to test, that might be kinda hard    Thats why im asking so before we buy it, we know it works.

oh, you said he bought one so I figured you have it.  In that case, wait until you havei t and try it.

we got one with our cable programming and they said in the booklet that we could do the same thing (save it than playit while recording it) but with a vcr.

im guessing it would be the same thing.
