Rock Jam Thing
« on: August 04, 2006, 01:14:43 pm »
I've been away from my band for a while so I thought I would post this :)

It's me playing everything but the drums. The guitar solos are completely improvised in A.

Sloppy Drum Track = Timing off   But whatever, It's still reasonable.

No shredding on the Guitar today, folks. I wanted a somewhat more bluesy and soulful solo.

Here's the Gear I used for this
----------------------------------------

#Suped up Epiphone Les Paul Special 2
#Yamaha Magic Stomp (I used the Hard Fuzz FX)
#Morley Pro II Wah Pedal (lol didn't use it for some reason)
#40W Marshall Amp
#Fruity Loops and Acoustica
#Crappy Mic
#Boss Super Overdrive SD-1 Pedal (Same as Van Halens)

MP3 Attached
~~~~Enjoy~~~~
It sounds like some nice improvv, the guitar tone clashes with the recording though.  it would sound really nice if you had a better microphone or something, not that I should be one to talk.  But the playing was really good.
Aaaaand as long as we're going to show off, cough cough
My recenttt cover of Martyrium, where it's just 4 guitar tracks over each other.  I transcribed all of it from an awesome Windir song, so I use it to show off my supreme transcription abilitiesss
and if you've got something that can play .ogg files -
http://llsc.us/members/n00bface/uploads/vreidthingendv.ogg
Latest cover of Vreid, where I played bass, guitar, drum machine (lolol), and did vocals at the end of it.  It's black metal, so most people will think that the vocals are horrid.  I did the complete song, but the export of it got lost in a HORRIBLE HORRIBLE FIRE, and so did the project file, so I couldn't redo it.  It's not a technical song at all, but it's all haunting and neato.  (I don't speak norwegian, so my pronunciation isn't really right.)
Right now I am working on transcribing the Pied Piper, by Lux Occulta, it's a technical death metal song and it's super awesome, it gives me the hornies.  http://llsc.us/members/n00bface/uploads/piedpiperclip.mp3  I recorded that excerpt especially for this topic too!
#Souped up Gibson Flying V, Bareknuckle Warthog pickups in both the neck and bridge
#ENGL Screamer, 50watts tube
#Schecter Stilletto Elite-5 bass, plugged directly into my computer, lolol
#Drumsite, which is a shitty drumming application that isn't free, so I used the trial which doesn't let you save, and just had my computer record all sound that my sound card was producing.  GENUIS!
#My voice :(
Schecter Bass huh?
I love Schecter! I'm going to buy the Omen-6 with a Floyd Rose and 2 Double Coil top quality Duncans. The Coils can be split by pulling one of the tone knobs.
Oh, and I really liked martyrium :)
I heard all 3 :)
Yeah the Schecter 6 is a pretty nice guitar, the Omen is the best you'll get for the price in my opinion.  Right-off-the-shelf at least.
I had some Duncan's in my V, but I swapped them out earlier this year for some BareKnuckle Warpigs; http://www.bareknucklepickups.co.uk/ZH-warpig.html  They're about 440$ for a calibrated set, but extremely worth it.  They've got the most output out of any passive pickup, and since they're not active/electro magnetic, the tone they give off is way better than an EMG counterpart or anything.  The Nailbomb and Warpig are for metal, but they mostly make mid-output pickups for different rock genres that might be worth checking out too.  I mean, assuming you're looking to buy the duncans, but if they come with the Omen-6 then it's not worth switching them I wouldn't think.
I've had them coil tapped too, but I don't use cleans often enough for it to be useful anyways.  I kind of feel like I wasted time and a lot of skin on my fingers holding those springs down when putting them in, lollll.
