mockup of a new game mode for soldat

Hey guys,

Not really into programming.. but here is a little variation of soldat
i thought of ... (inspired by contra and thps 2)
not sure if it can be incorporated though...
sounds good on paper.. i'll give u an attachment with some text and a screenshot
let me know what you think. :)

Why dont you just put all that stuff in a post? It makes life easier for us :)

look for the text that says something like this:

Soldat Mockup2.doc (937.5 KB - downloaded 8 times.)

It may be downloaded a few more times after this post.
For those who've seen the document waht are your thoughts..

Shame that i used my bandwidth on even loading this page.

Also, its all scriptable, but without the special colored effects.
Last year, I dreamt I was pissing at a restroom, but I missed the urinal and my penis exploded.

From what I understood, this sounds more like Conquest more than anything else. I like conquest though...

Soldat Mockup

Game mode: Coloured Posts

Inspired games:
Contra alien War (flying object give weapon upgrade)
Tony Hawks 2 multiplayer (having areas under a player control after clocking up points)

Operation of game:
Player begins the game with zero points and only picks his primary weapon. (pistol, shotgun, knife)
There are 5 white posts on the map.
The player will shoot the other player to obtain points, can shoot the (white or player controlled posts) to get some points, or hit the once in a while flying object to get points.
Note: flying object could really only fly at the top end of the screen

Point allocation:

Shots at the Flying contra object 25 points
Shots at the player (regardless of weapon) 10 points
Shots at white post 5 points
If player dies points reset to zero, however the posts occupied by the player stay.. until the opposing player accumulates enough points to change post colour.
Note: death of player means secondary weapon is gone and primary weapon will be used.

The screenshot shows the player with 275 points. He can then choose to run to a post and hit the ‘tab’ key or ‘e’ key to occupy the white post or if he has more points on that particular post can have the colour to change to say red or blue.
On the lower left the player can gauge how many posts are occupied and what points are needed to regain post.

Grenades are still pickable in the game.
Jet pack still usable

Shooting the flying contra style object will allow a secondary weapon to be picked up.

How to win:
A condition saying all white post to be converted to say red or blue, and the score for each post must exceed 500. 
These values may need to be adjust to suit gameplay.






On topic... sounds nice, but im not sure how fun it would be to sit at a post and just shoot at it until I get 500 points :/

It looks confusing. I like Soldat's "run and shoot" gameplay or the "capture the flag, not shoot the post" thing.

If you actually mean a control point gamemode (like tactical trenchwars, say, just without the classes... or the trenchwar bit), then I'd be for that.

Hey again folks,

I didn't intend for the game mode to be shoot the posts...
Basically if u get killed whilst doing that the points will go to zero like the big 275 will turn to a big 0.. (cause u got killed)
u accumulate more points per frag..  cause teh people dying gets zero points and your points will be higher than zero...
the posts are last ditch point grabbers...
once u're happy with the points u earnt and not died, run to a post and push 'e' to assign the post this value.
The post will turn to the colour of the shirt u are wearing or team colour..ie say red or blue.
The other player will be keen to overide your score value with a higher value.. so that he will have his colour post (think of tony hawks and the area change to that colour based on score from tricks)
but the only tricks to get score, is shoot the post, shoot the player
or shoot the contra thing down and pick a secondary weapon..
Its all very well accumlating big points for one post...
but after a time limit has reached zero the one with the most coloured posts could be the winner
especially when theres 5 posts...
say 2 red, adn the opposition 3 blue
The other winning method is secure 5 posts...
and get meet a certain baseline value before pushing 'e'
on the post to change colour.
so if the post was set at 300 points to change colour and u have
275 as in the pic.. by pushing 'e' on any post that is white won't change..
get 300 or more points without dying and u can have the post to change to the colour of your shirt. The 300 point will go to zero
and u have the post set at 300 points.
The other player will need to get say 310 points and he hits 'e'
and now claims the post.
The other player could use the 310 points on any white post or hope its a higher pointage than his rivals owned post.

I think i've typed enough for tonight...
i'll see what u guys think .. and comment further...
