The Big Applesauce
« on: June 18, 2009, 09:01:59 pm »
I am making a city DM/CTF map.
So far I have made docks, a statue and a tall building.
I am planning on a big map, any ideas?

what I've done so far...

the charlie spawns are in a hidden bunker...

Just make sure you don't run out of scenery :P  The hard part about making this type of map is that it gets cramped quickly with all the buildings (if you're planning to put a lot in there anyway).  This would favor the spas and other close range weapons, so try to make areas that benefit other weapons as well :).
For signatures, you are allowed only one image in your signature which may not be wider and taller than 300 and 125 pixels, and may not be over 20kB in file size. No BMPs are allowed.

Put large areas with some cover in your map, like the streets, and smaller ones, like close-placed buildings.

The docks are a good place for less CQB.  Should the floors of the office be normal or only player collides?

Use VTT's way to place scenery.

As this map is a city type, and you will make it big, do this, as it would lessen the lag made by too much scenery.
Last year, I dreamt I was pissing at a restroom, but I missed the urinal and my penis exploded.

thanks for the tip.  I am putting an underground bunker in, some boardwalk shops, a road with some cars, and more right now.

EDIT: any ideas as to what I should do next? I'll post a .png as soon as I figure out how...

I'm not going to lie: adding thorough scenery for buildings is a pain in the rump. G'luck.

It's hard enough to find what scenery you want to use.

Are you even going to update this map?
