If you do build a new computer, look at the Antec cases.  They are supposedly some of the finest in the world in terms of cooling, plus I think they look great.
Yes, Antec FTW! I've had several cases of theirs, all have been running perfectly for 3+ years. Extremely strong steel (heavy though), rugged components, utmost quality, etc. They're not flimsy plastic like a lot of what you'll see.
It's not steel. It's aluminium for the most part. Though the actual frame can be steel.

For the OP: If you can, wait a month or two before getting the graphics card. AMD is launching it's HD 5000 series cards before Windows 7(mid/late October), meaning that you can get faster cards cheaper because the HD 4000 series cards will see price drops and the new HD 5000 series cards will be tons faster.

So yeah, at least 4 GB of RAM, HD4890/HD5870 in late October, CPU and mobo depending on the budget/features required.
Fight! Win! Prevail!
