1: use the vertex selection (S)
2: zoom out (scroll down)
3: select all the map (drag)
4: hold ctrl and drag one of the 8 edges
(5): hold shift together if you don't want to distorts it

Making the map bigger doesn't make the wasted space magically disappear.  When you save it, the background gradient will just get bigger to make up for it.  Its natural to have wasted space outside your map border, you're fine as long as your map is completely closed :P

Sexy volcano by the way  ;D

as soon as you compile the map the dimensions of the outer edges are automatically generated and saved afterwards so just lay the polygons and the map will resize itself

theres no way to remove the "wasted space," it resizes itself to the proportion of ur map.

Are you happy with the size of your map?
Then don't touch it. There's nothing you can do to remove it.

Are you no happy with the size of your map?
1) Do what As de Espada says.
2) Highlight your whole map, then go to properties tab, then scale down the size of your map.
