Got this little innocent problem with win7
« on: January 08, 2010, 07:54:21 pm »
Root of my problem. I've been jerking around with win7 for a quite a while now. I first thought it was Quake live's plugins at fault for the horrible fps, but soon I realized I constantly keep getting this "Failed to load opengl32.dll" error everywhere.. Or if it doesn't come the game's just gonna work with 5fps barely. Examples umm.. Warsow, Smokin' guns. I know opengl32.dll has something to do with 3D graphics, or so I was told by someone. And so I was told to make sure I have ATI drivers instead of windows'.

Well.. Here's the part of my problem. I can't replace old window's drivers with ATI's, because when I try to switch it it gives me a
message "Windows has determinded your driver software to be up to date" or something. And if I uninstall windows drivers this shiet downloads it back when I login again. I sometimes manage to get it off and then I have this piece of anykind of donkeyturd it just doesn't work at all. I'm confused! Frankly said everything in win7 is confusing! I'm feeling like trying to run while my sweaty asshair is being frozen and peeling my grimy rectum apart.

I'm not rly smart when it comes to computers, so please try to guide me as clear as possible if you have any free time.
I'd love that (btw, this doesn't concern soldat at all, that fucktard works just fine).

And this also happens when you download the newest ATI drivers and install them directly?

Yeah, succesfull install, reboot and thats about it.. I might be just so stupid to not realize some simple browse option hidden somewhere in the display adaptor properties among the ones I've already tried, but if there was one I still wouldn't have any idea what to browse since all there is bunch of bats and other stuff I'm not aware of in the driver folders. There isn't any simple application to just f**klay it over the window's drivers and whatsoever.

- Make sure that you have lates Win7 Catalyst drivers from ATI (http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catalyst.aspx). I suggest to install WDM driver only instead of Full Catalyst Software Suite since Control Center is using .NET and bugged as hell.
- Drivers installation shouldn't require reboot.
- Drivers installed by windows via update center are actually the same Catalyst drivers from ATI, Well, maybe not the latest ones...
- opengl32.dll is a system windows library provided by Microsoft so drives can't affect it anyhow...

Allright, installed the WDM and reboot (it required it)
And is it supposed to work now? It doesn't work now so
do I need to activate it or something?

It's strange that it required reboot, but anyway...
What do you mean by it doesn't work? WDM package contains drivers only so there shouldn't be any tray icons / control panel applets or anything like this.

Yeah, thats the problem. It didn't change anything.
Does it matter which place I install the shiet? I've tried program files, C and all kinds of places
and doesn't work.

I should have equipment that can run games just fine and the right drivers chosen.
There was some text about ATI Radeon 9600 not being officially supported by Win7 with a bunch of other ATIs, but then it says you can use the same which goes for Vista. So I got the vista ones and would it be that? But, I really doubt all ATI users with win7 are screwed just because theyre taking
their sweet time to get it "officially supported".

ohhh Radeon 9600... You should have posted this from the begging...
No wander you are getting problems with latests drivers... Maybe this page will help you:

DirectX 9 ATI Radeon graphics accelerators are not officially supported under Windows 7.

Anyway, installing Win7 on PC with such an outdated hardware is kinda meaningless. Get yourself XP and live peacefully...

That link is the one I've been installing a few times now. Some guy told me the problem has nothing to do with my graphics
card. More like a basic win7 error. And drivers seems to be installed succesfully I didn't notice that since it just didn't help a damn thing. So my bad, Thanks for help anyways!
