Metroid Classic
« on: April 30, 2010, 11:11:59 am »

Do you like Super Metroid? How 'bout the original Metroid? How about the original Metroid, but with a map and save points? Hm, glamorous. This is no ROM mind you.

Quote
== Features List ==
Below is a list of the features of the game, with comparisons where apt to the
original.

-The entire original campaign is included.
-A new "Brinstar Red" section has been included, with several new tanks and the
Spazer beam.  Serves as a useful transit hub between disparate Brinstar areas.
-Ice/Spazer combos will insta-kill enemies that would normally be killed,
instead of freezing them.  It shouldn't be necessary to turn off the Ice Beam
like you might have in Super Metroid anymore!
-Most of the bugs in the original are nowhere to be found.
-It shouldn't be possible to trap yourself anymore, preventing the game from
being finished.  This was possible in several areas in the original.
-Acid will no longer hamper vertical movement (related to the trapping issue)
-A functional map has been added to help your navigation.
-You can enable/disable weapon and item upgrades from the subscreen.
-Credits sequence has been redone.  No more Engrish!
-Saving/Loading, instead of password backed.

Long story short... the original the project started as "Salty" remaking Super Metroid, but as most fan games go, it fell apart at the seams. So, the developer started at the base and will gradually remake the first three games (since each game stacks upon itself in terms of technical difficulty). He has included a few ideas of his own into the games to add spice and newness. This you will see for yourself.

Essentially, this is a "fully functional" Metroid Classic.

Aw, man.
That game's classic, pretty much the best of it's kind, nothing of today's HD shit can compare to the pure awesomeness that is Metroid.

Nope, that's the color of her* armor/skin/whatever it is he's wearing.
I forgot Samus Aran is a she xD
Oh yeah, and the armor is called 'Power Suit', had to re-read the story to remember all that.
Damn, it's been ages since Metroid was the best thing gaming ever saw...

Metroid rules! I succeed Zero Mission for GBA which is actually the same as this one but with 'upgraded' graphics and some other stuff.

Same here.. beat the game probably 10+ times for the alternate endings. And you had to do things like beat the game in under 2 hours and with only 10% of the items, or something ridiculous. Going through the whole game without the long beam, or the screw attack, and maybe 10 missiles... >:(  it was a challenge.

The 3D series are worth playing too, you know.
And I'm speaking from experience here; Nice graphics, nothing too fancy, great gameplay, simple tasks, somewhat interactive environments, and not to mention re-play value.
