R/S.
« on: October 28, 2010, 02:59:49 pm »
US Realistic/survival keeps dying and coming back for like a month, it's pretty unstable. There weren't any US servers for quite a while until a couple of weeks ago, now there are two:
[R/S] Playground (72.233.90.58:23075)
-=IGwT=- Server (72.233.90.58:23091)

We're trying to make a comeback as there aren't many veterans left at all and would love people to come and have a try.

Guide to Realistic/Survival
What is R/S?

Realistic/Survival is simply a mode to play in Soldat. In R/S, you get one life per score. One shot to take down the enemy, then it's over. There is more trust in your teammates and immediate demand of skill required to succeed.

However, our community is our power. As with all modes in Soldat, there are communities. Soldat itself is a community. However, in R/S Soldat, the community is tightly wound, and it's easy to earn respect. We are a family and are very close.
What's the difference?

The difference between regular play and Realistic/Survival is something better expressed in a list.

Bullets do more damage
The bullets in Soldat do a lot more damage, which means that it's easier to kill someone. However, it also means that it's a lot easier to die. There are no health or grenade packs, so there is no way to heal yourself save the healing areas rarely created into the maps.
Fall Damage
As integrated with Realistic mode, falling too far and too fast will actually hurt you. This means that you have to be a lot more careful in quick situations. Since there are little or no healing in most maps, hurting yourself severely affects your lifespan.
Limited Chances
As integrated with Survival mode, you can only live once per round. Yes, that's right, you have only one chance per round to succeed. Once you've died, it's up to your teammates to succeed without you. Let your imagination take realistic modern fighting feelings and apply it to Soldat. Not only that, but a traditional R/S server will have a limit of 10 points. Ten points go quickly if each person only has one life! Your best effort will be your best defense.
Friendly Fire On
As with a few servers we've all seen, whenever you shoot your teammate, he gets hurt. This is especially dangerous in R/S because, again, there are no health packs. Any spray has to be closely watched and made sure not to injure your teammates.
Double Capturing
As with a brief discussion in forums.soldat.pl, the issue of 'Double Capping' has appeared. In Realistic/Survival, there are two ways to score: to eliminate the other team or to capture the flag. Now, whenever one team is eliminated, there is a small window of opportunity scripted into the game. All survivors have about four seconds to live. During that time, they may capture the flag. The combination of both gives them two points, instead of just one. In the R/S community, it is regarded as unfair or poor sportsmanship if you do 'Double Cap.' There are times when it is acceptable, however, such as if you have little or no hope of defeating the other team through all ten rounds.

Encourage people to play, it's quite easy after a while and you'll get used to it quite quickly.
