Old Skool Fallout Anyone?
« on: March 02, 2011, 07:33:26 am »
So I've been thriving off of Fallout 2 and Fallout Online for the past few weeks, and i'm officially addicted, hence the new avatar  ;D

But I actually made this thread to spread the word that if you DO in fact have Fallout 2, or possibly Fallout 1 (not sure if it matters), that they HAVE released an online version of the game and it is called FOnline.
Here's the link: http://fonline2238.blogspot.com/
Get caught up with the news, gaming experience is much different than actual in-game experience.
If you liked the old skool Fallout games, I HIGHLY recommend this.
There are in fact other players, but it's such a big world that everyone's so spread out.
Very challenging and it's more realistic in the sense that resources are harder to come by and you make your own gear.

FOnline was quite cool the last time(2009 I think, when it was released for public) I tried it out, though extremely buggy with Wine.

Too bad that 99 % of gamers couldn't give a shit about games like Fallout. Their loss. Definitely one of it's kind.

Completed fallout 2 twice. I've tried the restoration project as well, but back when I did, it was too bugged to describe in any human language. F2 is worth playing regardless of one's gender or level of retardation. I'll see to it to analyse fonline in ~ a month.

bonur:

The beginning is outstandingly unoriginal (the scorpion temple) and severely dull, but the game gets good after you get your rectum out of the village. If you quit the game before you manage to get out of the village, then you have pretty much stopped playing after the tutorial. As far as I can tell, the tutorial is not the best part of the game. If it were up to me, I would have probably left that part of the game out.

It doesn't look even a quarter as good as it plays. You can choose to have 1 intelligence and you will be a retard and people will treat you like one: with pity, remorse, hate and extreme prejudice. Your dialogue will become ridiculous and no sane person will understand anything that you say. So you tell me, is being able to play as a grown person with severe mental retardation a sign of a good game or what?

Did I mention that you can choose to shoot children in the face?

Another reason why people end up ditching the game is because they believe that everything is too slow, which is why I used game engine tweak (nma forums) to speed up the gameplay.

Additionally, I used Fallout 2 resolution patch (nma forums) to further improve my gaming experience.

This should get some people playing.

I tried Fallout 2, I just have not got the hang, I stopped at the beginning.
Looks cool by the screens, though.  :P

Well, its a great game, no matter if its 2D or not.
Who would have thought a turnbased game could be so addictive, and how such a small game could be so complex in the design and the whole general idea of basically living your own life based in the post apocalypse, live a life you choose, and choose to be your own self

The onky thing this game lacks, is character customization.
If a simple game like soldat can be modded and/or change color of your stuff, we should have more customization.
