If you go to Start Game, and want to play race maps, you have to start a ctf game and then vote on you rce maps, or you have to manually modify your mapslist.txt file (beforehand) to add the maps you want to play.
It would be good if rce maps appeared at the capture the flag maplist, or even better, option to choose which prefixes appear on each gamemod maplist when starting a new game.

I don't think it is a good idea to add custom maplist prefix filtering.
We already have too many options in the GUI so I'd like to remove stuff instead off adding more stuff.
Soldat doesn't support custom game modes officially why should we add something which is only used by custom game modes?

For some time the ctf, inf and other official game modes are 'polluted' by custom game modes which isn't great solution (makes it difficult to find the original game modes).
I don't say custom game modes are bad it's just that (new) players should know they play a custom game mode without reading the server name.

Adding a custom game mode could solve both your filter problem and the problem I explained above.
Either a custom game mode or a custom flag like survival.

The custom game mode/flag would allow you to pick any map so no filter would be necessary.

you can choose your maps with deathmatch selected and then switch to ctf, it shouldn't reset the mapslist.
