Sniper shooting through walls intended or a bug?
« on: September 12, 2014, 10:29:59 am »
I'm playing some realistic from time to time, you know, this sniper-camper-mode...
This is so annoying, esp. for me with the spas! Snipers sit behind a thin bulletproof wall/object. I shoot - nothing happens. He shoots - I loose my head..
This goes as well with the corners of eg. crates, or any object that has sharp corners. This makes them effectively round for snipers, but remaining cornered for me.
Generally speaking, I guess, the faster the bullet, the rounder the corners.

I just wonder if that is a bug, or is it intended?!
I guess it's an artefact of the physical simulation, right?! At least the "bullet-speed/time-resolution" would produce such artefacts, if the bullet-speed is too high compared to the timestep..

How thick does a wall have to be (eg. measured in player-width, or -length, if you lay down), to block sniper-bullets?
(..And how fast is a sniper-bullet (measured in the same units)? )

About the coliders (crates, ...) specifically, they actually are round objects for the game.

That's good to know, but what about the walls?
Isn't it at least possible to deflect shots, if they go through walls?!
