Nonping lags on big maps
« on: October 17, 2013, 06:24:24 am »
Yeah, i've checked the sticked threads but it didn't help me at all.

My problem is, since couple years (but it was fine 10 years ago, computer is still the same though), i experience nonping (not caused by ping [net]) lags. They always happen on climb maps (cuz suckers are big), thats why ive stopped trainin my parkour abilities. It didn't matter to me but they also happen on some little bigger ctf maps (for example snakebite).

Its not lag at all, whole game freezes for 5000ms (0.5s) every 1-5 seconds during climb maps and its much better(smoocher) on ctf maps (snakebite etc) but its still gay.

How to fix it? maybe game may run smoother if I turn off something in the config?

i am sure a lot of you have expected this before. I would be sure that is caused by my computer but this is damn good computer.

- ive got 4096 mb of RAM, dont know how many mbs are readable but my windows ix 64bit so i guess its all readable
- windows 7 ultimate 64bit
- 500 gb disk space
- directx 11
- intel(r) core(tm)2 quad cpu q8300 @ 2.50ghz (4cpus), ~2.5ghz -------------- (no idea if its good or bad)
- nvidia geforce 9600 gt

gta 4 runs without any freezes so yeah i think something is wrong

ill be thankful for any helpful posts.

Try window mode. Fps limit and High resolution timer off. (If you get too bad 'tearing' you could try having them on and limit fps to 60 or 150)
We are working on a larger soldat config help, different settings there could give different results.
What I can say is that Soldat runs better on xp than on win7, and that i havn't found the perfect solution yet
(I have the same problem)

I found a solution that works for me atleast:
Fullscreen: ON
Fps Limiter: Off
High resolution timer: ON
Resolution: 1920x1080 (same as my monitor)
Please try this and let me know if it worked

[Edit]It's not smooth every time I open soldat, it's not consistant. But most of the times it's smooth now. So try a few times.

ive tried all you guys said and surely making the game work in full screen made it smoother (not removing all of these, but its muuch smoother) unfortunatelly i like window mode more cuz full screen has problems with minimalising and maximalziing the game window (it acts wild and gay)

fps limiter and high resoulution timer didnt change anything and my resolution is as big as my monitor's
(now i think of it, no idea what resolution timer is but fps timer just coudn't work... It limits fps from being too big not from being too small)

If you use windowed and don't use fps limiter, the fps will be unlimited and your screen won't be able to keep up, thus creating 'tearing', where one line on your screen will be kinda blurry or flickery. Vertical sync is supposed to force sending frames at the same rhythm as your monitor, but when I use it it doesn't look smooth. Using fps limiter to limit fps to 60fps (wich is most probbably your monitors rate) also doesn't work. So you see, it's a problem I havn't been able to figure out.

My best solution is to use fullscreen, and to always use F9 to minimize soldat, instead of alt+tab.

[edit]I'm not so sure about this solution either anymore, I played a gather and had 3 minutes of laggs, 3 minutes of smoothness, 3 minutes of laggs.. and so on.

I changed my monitor to a 144hz and got soldat smooth as hell. I used to have issues nomather what options I chose for soldat. I also upgraded my gpu but I think it was the monitor that did the trick.

Unfortunately most monitors over 60hz are pretty expensive :(

Try to disable "Render smooth polygons" in config>performance tab
