DS Browser
« on: October 12, 2006, 10:20:44 am »
I've been thinking about buying the web browser for my Nintendo DS, and I've been wondering, will it work with Soldat Forums? It's apparently Opera based.

No. Don't try this site with smart phones. (or the DS)
It has fix widths and tables and crap. Its not worth the hassle.

... but he's not talking about a smaller phone, he's talking about his DS with at least the same resolution as my palm, probably more.

i think a good solution would be to create a mini-version of the site for things like PSP or the DS.  A simple format version of these forums including only the basic text.  No sigs, no elaborate button/icons, just the basic stuff essential for browsing and still fully functional.
Can't think of anything original to put here...

almost any portable browser allows you to selectively display what it renders.  This site renders fine with everything enabled and also fine with everything (except text) disabled.

no changes need to be made.

well the main issue imo was that all the pictures etc. would not only be slow due to possible slow connection but would also clutter the screen on such a small device.

You can have the site as a small version on one screen, and select parts of it to be seen on the other screen. That's the handy thing about the DS.

It'll probably work just fine with soldatforums, I wouldn't worry about that.

well l'm on my palm now and it looks 100 percent fine, even with all images.  Ifyou don't have exerience with browsing these forums on a mobile device, don't waste our time by posting in this thread.

I'm sry i didn't see the memo stating this is only for ppl with with mobile browsing devices.  Also, that's why i said "IMO" to make it clear that it's only my opinion (IMO means 'In my opinion' just in case you weren't clear about that).
Well I guess I'm disallowed to further post anything in this thread since it doesn't actually concern me...

I'm just saying, and I think that others would agree, that I think it is pointless for people to post here about how this site may or may not be usable in a compact browser without having any experience with it.  That is like me saying that walking on the moon is no fun even though I've never done it.
