The joy of flag throwing
« on: October 10, 2006, 11:06:25 am »
I was playing on ctf_B2b fairly recently, and the score was tied.  There wasn't a lot of time left, so I rushed for the blue flag.  I managed to grab it and went underneath.  Two enemies with autos dropped down and chased me.  With all the bumps and gaps in the terrain, I managed to avoid most of the shots.  Finally I got to our side.  During the climb up to the area under the base, the two enemies managed to catch up with me.  I finally got to the ledge just below red base and jumped, only to find *surprise* I didn't have enough jet power.  Luckily, there was a player in our base guarding it from the top, so as I fell back down, I threw him the flag just before my corpse was hammered into the wall by automatic fire.  The flag landed right on my teammate and he scored.  We managed to hold off blue for the rest of the round to win!

Only anime shows I've felt any interest in over the years are Pokemon (original TV series) and various hentai.
so clearly jgrp is a goddamn anime connoisseur. his opinion might as well be law here.

Hehe very nice job. I always forget to pass the flag when I'm about to die, I just try to kill them all lol.

But I never run out of jets when scoring for alpha from low. :P

I think flag throwing is the best showing of teamwork in the game.  It's extremely useful in maps with deathpits and can change the course of a game instantly

It certainly has its uses.  Indeed it does.

it seems like most people are unaware of the usefullness of flag throwing until they play their dreadful football games in the middle of a INF round :/
Your acting like your having a duel and your opponent gets a pistol and you get a spork.
Isn't that pretty much what it is? I dunno wtf a spork is, I suppose it's way weaker than the pistol since you compared that to this.

Lol, somehow everytime I throw it, it goes in the wrong direction.:-X I even put my cursor on the person I'm throwing to, yet it misses them & lands in enemy's hands.

Flag Throwing is indeed awsome, but there is a reason why I don't like such an action. When I try to throw the flag, it rarely registers on my controls, like I'll stand there standing and crouching for god knows how many vital seconds to either commit suicide, begin running for my life or die in the result of trying to pass the flag.

I think this is a result of my too often slow frame rate. :-\

I love me some flag throwing, especially up through bridges and barriers such as on B2B and Ash to stop a killer from returning or to buy time and confuse enemies. When using a long range weapon and/or being chased by short range weapons and in close enemies, it really helps to toss the flag far away and have them put you at a better advantage and help buy some time. I've been hoping to collect enough clips to make a flag throwing video if I can ever remember to demo the moment the map loads instead of afterward.

Oh I only really use flag throwing to annoy the bravo team, I don't score, I find a place where they can't get to easily, wait for alpha team to come and join me, and play with the flag. I don't do that anymore as no one wants to do that anymore. :(

You just chuck it over the ledge and it bounces all the way to the nade/health pit......good stuff lol
