To increase saw usefullness...
« on: December 30, 2006, 08:51:13 pm »
To make the saw more useful, its user could move more quickly while the saw is running (or spinning, or whatever verb chainsaws do).  it's a simpler form of an aforementioned lunge attack.

or, a similar change, the saw has inverse recoil: when it is running, it pulls the user in the direction it's pointed.

Of course, there is the question of whether the saw needs some power.  i think it does, do you?

EDIT: Of course it would be gently applied and figured into overall balance just like any other change.

I dig the inverse recoil, provided that it is very, very subtle (as in, virtually unnoticable).

Or like the chainsaw in doom, pulls you closer to the guy, rather than the guy to you. Either way works fine. I like this idea =)

Um i think thats what i meant to say.  agh, the pronouns are so confusing!!

Ok, if i hold this magic saw, aim it left, and click, i move left... that's it.

That's what I want.  (pulling individual opponents to you doesn't make for as many crazy multi-kill sprees)

I think the saw is just fine as it is, apart from the hit detection and the lack of one hit killing. Apart from that, it's pretty darn useful when used properly.

// Chainsaw :   fireinterval -2, speed +7, reload +60, ammo +100

Feedback first, then other solutions.

I like the saw as it is, it's already perfect in very small maps. it dont need much change.

i think the saw will need a little help, after other guns are changed. ex: knife delay down.

[Chainsaw]
Damage=713
FireInterval=2
Ammo=100
ReloadTime=100
Speed=70
BulletStyle=11
StartUpTime=0
Bink=-300
MovementAcc=1

this should fix the saw, not that this increases saw's accuracy-> Bink=-300
how you might ask, simple, after exactly 4 saw chops(bullets) your aimer starts to go widethus making the bullets shoot in all directions between 50-130 degrees, but as you know the saw does not fire bullets away, it has a certain range of fire, so it cuts many places making it 50% easier to Hit an enemy melee. Its remains as a melee weapon thow.

For the reload you should have to fill the Saw with some gasoline. POWER TO THE SAW!

The saw is fine how it is. There's not much that can be done about the hit detection, just play on a more local server where you have a lower ping.

I tried it out before, works much better.
