Polyworks texture re-assignment
« on: December 02, 2006, 09:01:53 pm »
I am new to polyworks so I don't know the layout yet. I made a map with the soldat map maker so there is only one texture for the whole map. I found polyworks and learned how to multi texture by combining them as one image. My problem is that I only want to apply pieces of the new texture to certain polys, but I don't know how. I cant figure out how to load a new texture either. To load a new texture I just open the map in the old map maker. I tried selecting the parts of the texture I want to apply, then selecting the polys to apply them to and pressing enter, useing the texture transform (whatever its called) tool, and a couple other things but nothing works. Can someone please help me?

First of all, in order to change textures, press CTRL+M for Map Settings.

Secondly, there is a neat feature in Polyworks called the Texture Quad.  Enable it by right-clicking with the Poly Creation tool.

After you have enabled Texture Quad, open the Texture Window, which will display the texture in some sort of grid.  On the Texture Window, click-n-hold and select whatever portion of the texture you want to use.  Then use the Poly Creation tool.

Thanks for the texture change help, but I already knew about the quad thing, and the multi texture selection grid. What I need to do is add part of the grid to certain polys without remaking them. I would remake everything but it would take me a really long time to do, and I don't feel like redoing a map I already made.

You have to mess around with the texture co-ordinates using the transform texture tool. It doesn't work as well using the texture quad and your poly placement has to be right for it work properly.
