ctf_nuubia2 - old school

ctf_Nuubia2
By: ultraman

After getting feedback from my last map inf_frostbite, I realised several things about my maps and my mapping technique.
this is the most crappy map that has ever been nominated for the MotW
I'm not going to lie and say that didn't hurt, 'cos it did. But reading the MotW article made me realise it's never the map with the best looks that win, because a map has to be playable before the looks can even begin to be judged. I also realised that I was using far too many polygons for my surfaces, but I won't go into the technical stuff.

So with all that in mind, I though about one of my favourite default maps, ctf_nuubia. I decided to make a sequel, but this time focusing much more on layout and playabilty, while still keeping with the theme of the original nuubia. I realise one of the main traits of ctf_nuubia which makes it fun is the fact that it's not symetrical. This map is pretty much symetrical, so one of the main characterising traits of ctf_nuubia is lost. I didn't really think I could make a non-symertrical map without making it overly unbalanced. However, I feel that it keeps with the fast paced, close combat theme of the original nuubia rather well, and I think I recreated the colours quite well too.

I also thought that if ever wanted to make it up with the better mappers, I'd eventually have to get off my lazy ass and learn how to waypoint...So I did! Please don't flame me if the waypoints are bad, it's my first attempt. They seemed playable enough during testing, although I'm sure they're not up to par with KC's or E_A's waypoints.

Anywho, I think I've ranted on for long enough. This map will almost certainly be updated according to comments I get, so expect an update soon! Now, without further adaue, ctf_Nuubia2! The d/l is attached to the post, enjoy!

Looks a bit too long and stretched out for a nuubia remake.

^It's not supposed to be a Nuubia remake.

It looks nice, but yeah, I agree with the symmetry.  Gonna check it out later.

The layout reminds me very much of Lanubya.

It definitly has the Nuubia looks, but I believe its too big to fit the name (or maybe its just the screenshot). However, the layout looks quite playable, gotta need some testing ;)

Reminds me of Ctf_Azt. With the semi-symmetrical layout, it lost the true value of nuubia. With that said, you basically made a traditional layouted map and forced nuubia's theme on it, so the outcome is pretty avarage.

Thanks for being honest Demonic, got any suggestions on how it could be improved? As I said, I was scared to make it non-symetrical because I didn't want to unbalance it ;Q Sorry!
