Possibly making a ded. server(HELP)

Ok, just put it up, "BooBoo McBad's SERVAR", It's realistic survival.

What I need help with.

I don't have a dynamic IP, so why is my server IP/port changing whenever I startup my ded server? How can I keep it the same?

I have the port forward site, which ones do I open to make it possible for appearing in lobby, letting maps download, ASE, etc?

How can I keep my maps up to date?


If legible people want to administrate say so here, and based on feedback you might get to do so. This is also work in progress, I might change alot on it.

Hm, would't that mean then if I get banned from a server I could reconnect, because that does not happen.

Go to Start
Run
Type cmd
Type ipconfig

Look at your IP.

Do the same thing again tomorrow and if your IP changes they you know you have a dynamic IP. Do you have cable? DSL? Dial up?

If you have Dial Up your IP changes every time you sign on. Cable you normally keep your IP for a good long while. DSL.. well it is tricky, I have known some DSL modems to keep the same IP for years and others change daily/weekly. So tough call. If you have a router and you get your IP using DHCP then you may get a different IP from the DHCP server which is used Local (LAN) Maybe you want to set your dedicated server to use your IP of your service provider and you would need to set that variable in the server configuration file.

Type cmd
Type ipconfig

Thats to get your Static LAN IP, Internet IP is what we are after.
