If you had to choose between the two which would you pick. id pick soldat because it rocks

IMHO, dos doom is rated 10 and so is soldat. They both kick ass in equal amounts to me.

I played both, I would rather play with people instead of simply going on a gore spree, though gore sprees are fun :P

I prefer Doom2 over Doom, but that's just me.

Doom single player is just as good as Soldat online IMO.

Soldat, because I've beaten Doom's single player mode...  Playing with REAL people is worth so much more. 8)

Don't get me wrong though, Doom is awesome (hooray for ports!  jDoom)

Well, Doom has source ports, Action Doom, megawads and can run natively on Linux, but Soldat has Doom mods, punching guns out of people's hands, that freakin' huge mappack and /piss.

I'd say Soldat, though no gamer should not play Doom. Especially since Doom is free with a copy of Freedoom and the source port of your choice.

Doom is great but, in every game the enemies end up being predictable, humans aren't... too a degree.

i'd say doom, it's oldschool+horrorish, i played it everyday when i was 10 or something, i loved it! used to got all doom versions but lost them, now i only have doom3 for xbox, and i never play it...:)

Hate to admit it, but I'd have to pick doom over soldat.

I started playing doom at the age of 4. Ever since then I've been in love with the game. It changed my life. As a child I'd go around the house holding a pillow right in the center of my chest pretending it was a shotgun, and all the chairs in my house were demons, pillows were lost souls, brothers were imps and zombies, and parents were cyberdemons. Doom is the game that got me on my feet for gaming.

To this day I've played almost every doom megawad to date. I've tried all ports except for Legacy. (including Zdoom, GZdoom, Jdoom, EDGE, etc.) I currently use Zdoom (for its wide modding capabilites) from time to time, and Jdoom most of the time (because overall its the most visually appealing). Doom pumps my nads.

I can say the same about soldat, because it was also a game I dreamed of playing, but Doom got me by surprise, by opening an entire new dimension of video games for me to experience (First Person Shooters). I'm sorry but Doom wins for me.

Well Doom 2 was basically the exact same thing as Doom 1, it just had an extra weapon, like 8 more new enemies, and 32 more bigger badder more detailed levels to blast through. Doom2 was more than Doom 1 over all. Though Doom 1 wins in terms of having better music (Slayer/Pantera/Metallica MIDI rips)

Thats actually a really hard choice... even though i love doom i will have to say soldat for the shear reason that soldat is against real people and therefore more fun in teh long run. i mean there is only a certain amount of times that u can finish a campaign before getting bored with it, where as soldat is always different due to teh human factor..
