Quite a bit of controversy for just one guy in a million of people who die every day.

Luging is a dangerous sport reserved for only the most steel-balled people the world has ever seen. And he knew the risks, and did it anyway. Him dying in a freak accident in the tryouts instead of the real thing was the fact that 4chan was willing to exploit. He died in the most spectacular way possible. Sad, but true.

I respect the guy of course, for his luging sport, but can you really bring yourself to say it when he's the fourth guy to die in the olympic tryouts? Still, half-mast day at the olympics *respect*

There probably is a standard, but I felt nothing when I heard the news the guy died at the hospital. I felt nothing because I don't even know the person.

I felt something when a student who graduated from our school died as a victim of a road rage barely a week ago.

Nothing more can be said here, but I'd like to note that when you vaguely know someone who has died, you feel like death has taken a step closer. In this Olympian's case, that's not it.
