Uniform option+weapon discrimination

I think it would be nice to have a server option to take off the red, blue, green, and yellow colored jerseys and replace then with a camo pattern or some other prespecified color.  It would be nice for realistic mode in games where tactics matter more (Trenchwar comes to my mind first) and being being unseen is beneficial.  I think it could really improve the gameplay in some games; instead of people running by and being shot immediately, you could go hide and wait for the attackers to pass, and hit them from behind, or wait until the flag is clear secretly, something like that.  What do you guys say?

Also it would be nice to limit certain weapons to certain teams...EG one team gets AK while one gets Steyr, etc.

HAHA No. This will just give noobs more reason to camp, thus slowing down Soldat's style even more.

Well, as a server option I actually like it. It's a good idea for trenchwar games, where sneaking is important to the game. But I think it'd be good only for trenchwar. So I think it'd be cool as a server option.

Soldat is meant to be a fast-paced, risky game. Making it possible to hide like this would simply ruin the speedy style of gameplay. Server option: Maybe, just Maybe.

I can see how people who only play non-realistic fast paced Soldat would think this, but there's a growing number of people who are playing Trenchwar-slower, more tactical Soldat.  Camo would make it more fun and add a new dimension to the game.

It's not really needed much at this point with the majority of scripting about to be able to be used in 1.4. So, I don't think this needs to be added because there is little need for something such as this.

But I do, however, support this as an idea because it is pretty cool, but the clanmatch mode is too similar to warrant something.

i hate having client-specific mods.  At least there's gonna be something against it so this idea as a client-side option is even worse.  But then again enesce, why don't you let those who want it a bit slower-paced play with this option and you and the rest can just not use this feature.

Nah, it's just a pointless idea. Especially the weapon discrimination, there's no real point aside from 'realism' and it wouldn't be as fun, especially if people just went to the team that had their favorite weapon. Neither of 'em would make Soldat any more fun, this is just another 'change for the sake of change' idea.

Well, maybe the camo would make a slight difference, but not a positive one, it'd just encourage camping and take the skill out of hiding. Then there's always the problem of the ability to mod gosteks; the only thing to prevent people neutralizing the camo with bright red pixels would be to prevent people from modding gosteks, which would suck for people with custom ones.

I don't see why people wouldn'T like this as as server-side option.

It's just a good addition to players who like realism and not the arcade-style. This ideas are actually very good in my oppinion and I totally support them.

Camo wouldn't get you any benefit, or fun, the gostek is just too little to see the pattern of camouflage. Also the forest camo would be useless or even worse in snow/desert maps etc.

Its possible it could just underlie a camoflage patern in the gray, so people can choose their own camo colors.

Yeah, especially you almost always have to wear your team's colour. which does not make you harder to see...

You would see a huge difference between the Red/Blue color and let's say, Brown and Green Camo patterns.

I like the idea of weapon discrimination - if it would allow each team to have a separate full weapon set, it would allow to make allies vs. axis or blue vs. reds mods.

The weapon descrimination has been suggested before, and I still like the idea. Also, I'd like the uniform option, mabey you could set the pant and shirt colour for the entire team, like clan match only not the first person to join. When I first started playing Soldat, I would sometimes add a bot with the colours I wanted, then do the same on the other team, then join and kick both bots. But this idea is a much easier way :P

just make your pants and hair (and skin, maybe) a dark grey/green. going prone leaves a weird blue/red line. so its hard to tell if its a corpse or not. besides, the tw mappers are so good you could be wearing bright pink and you would still have a chance to kill because of the folioge(sp?) and scenery that you can hide around. plus hiding behind boxes and such (like in ctf_cs_deagles, the crates. i know its not a tw map but its an example for sure) is extreamly usefull while not being unfair.

also, some people like using scary colors just to be funny

I love the idea, imagine :
You can select different helmets, shirts , pants for each team, that way, you could have indians fighting colonialists, nazis fighting allies, jungle warriors, space troopers,medieval mercenaries !!!
Its already available (soldat mod mixer) but making it official would be a good idea.
