there isn't ever a very good "bridge" between a shooter and an RPG, spells are just out of place in soldat, they don't belong because it is out of their enviornment. It would be similar to adding a machine gun to world of warcraft.

RPG could work a little, but in the end it would turn out as sucky as gunz, or the second possibility would be that the levels would be completely meaningless because they only last one round/not actually help at all.

Spells are from the middle ages. Soldat is from the modern era, they do not combine. People have tried mods that make guns into wands and shit, but it doesn't take off. Soldat is here and now, Spells art yonder 15th century.

yeah I dont think the summon spell will work... because a server is limited by slots. so I really odnt see how you will get this together.

anyway..I guess it will be worth a try...

what's the deal? :-/
i mean, the max slots are 32 and i dont think there is any server around maxing out the slot lkimit, plus i implemented a restriction to the summon spells so that only one summon can be active at a time (on the whole server)

and like sakae said:
if you dont like it, dont play it, i'm sure though that many people will enjoy it.

A beta of the script is at my RS server:
server.selfkill.com/29474/no pass

It's only for testing the levelling algorithm's mathematics though, no spells or Health / Damage modifications yet, since those only work with 2.6.0 (Allthough i coded them already ;Q)

that beta is nothing special :-/
it only gives you EP and you get level up once you reached a certain amount, but that won't change anything about your soldier ;Q

Anyway ... RPG script ... FFS! Is RPG letters = exp's and stats ?? If I say or read "RPG" I've Planescape:Torment or Baldurs Gate on mind :S this looks like "diablo=rpg" :P

O RLY?

Ziem, if this script makes Soldat somewhat like Diablo, I think you'd still like it, since Diablo is basically a real-time Roguelike with mouse support.

Avarax, maybe instead of having experience instantly dissappear after each map, there could be a "decay" of half the experience points which all players lose. If you can find a way to make that happen, I think it would make the script more fun for people to keep playing.

God!, what's wrong with you people, don't you know a brilliant idea when you see one?
I think this is by far the best script ever made for soldat, it simply takes Advance mode to another amazing level, I think it should be like a sub-mode of Advance.

And yes Avarax, If I had a server I'd implement it.

question about hits one. if you buy a server with 10 slots, can you really add bots then? (if it is full)
and also if it is 9/10 playing in it and someone summons will the server get full?

Even though it's only EP/level up script for now I like it very much. I'm waiting for more in 1.3.2/1.4

Yeah, sure. I'd like it, I've only mentioned that RPG means for "some people" something other than "action-rpg" < hack'n'slash =P >

Will this mod be Soldats answer to Counter Strike's Warcraft mod?
