Apparently Dell is having a nice discount on their AMD based desktops, so I got pretty sweet rig for gaming and multimedia at a reasonable price.

Specs:
AMD Athlon x2 5000+
2 gb RAM
250 gb Hard drive
17 inch flatscreen monitor
16x DVD+/CD RW optical drive
Free Vista Home Premium (yay!)
and I'm getting a Geforce 7600 GT off of Newegg

All together, about 949 USD. Not a bad deal AFAIAC.

god, my gaming rig is starting to age, still have an althon 64 x2 3800+ and a geforce 6600

But then again, atleast I have a few big hard drives and 2 gigs ram

Yeah, I hate it when computer sellers do that. That is why I always build pc's myself.

They have good tech support, believe me, within 10 months of getting the damn thing I got to test it out! That was great!

Dell's are great for consumers; the pre-installed junk is easy to remove, they're cheap, and from my experiences reliable.

When my hard drive crashed a few weeks ago (after four years of use) they sent me a new, bigger one the same day for free, and even sent over a guy to install it for me (also free). Say what you will about the company, but that is quality service that really can't be topped.

Then again, the computer in my garage made out of spare parts running Ubuntu has yet to fail me...

Well I would try to put a comp together myself, but I'm not that experienced and knowing me, I would f*** it all up somehow. Dell has better value than hp and gateway and I already own one of their laptops and i know they have great customer support when my laptop keyboard broke and they sent us a free replacement.

it was really just too good a deal to pass up, especially to my parents.
