Mods aren't working for me
« on: February 25, 2007, 12:14:02 am »
First things first--I'm not registered, so that might clear things up.

But here's my problem:  Every time I try to open up a Soldat mod, it's redirected to the usual Soldat "ok" screen.  After pressing ok, I can't use the mod because it says I'm unregistered.

A few of my buddies have been using mods for awhile now and they haven't had this problem (they aren't registered).

Any ideas on what's wrong?
I am an appreciator.

It has nothing to do with registration, and it has nothing to do with the redirecting to the ad screen either. Where are you placing the mod's files at? How are you trying to run it?

Are you sure it's a mod and not an interface?

The mod is located in C:\Soldat\Custom-Interfaces.

It's the Cel-Shaded mod.  Most definitely a mod and not an interface change.  I've tried others, also.

I'm trying to run it by going Programs>>>Soldat Mods>>>Cel-shaded Soldat mod, but again, it simply reverts to normal Soldat every time I click it.

Hmm. Well, for starters, I remember Cel-Shading being a self-extracted mod.

Have the installer extract all the relevant files to C:/Soldat/Mods/Celshaded or whatever else you want to name the folder. Not sure why you put it in Custom-Interfaces, but it makes sense that the game would give you a hard time about that, because custom interfaces are only usable by registered members.

Once you have all the mod files in place in Mods/Celshaded, go to Run... on the start menu and enter C:/Soldat/Soldat.exe -mod Celshaded.

You can also create a shortcut to Soldat and then tack -mod Celshaded onto the end of it if you'd like to run the mod much more easily.

I'm not always the best at explaining things, so let me know if you need anything cleared up.

Uh, yeah... mods go into ...\Soldat\Mods for temporary use, or literally replace the appropriate files (weapons-gfx, Txt, Interface-gfx\Guns, etc.) for permanent use; interfaces are for the health, jet, ammo, etc. display screen
