Oo thats really hard cuz MMORPG means, Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game. I cant help you whit the coding & Grafix. But i can say that if it have a good story, not super crappy grafix and a good comunity you will come a long way.

Alright, let me put it in a less spammy way.

I don't think anyone is going to make a game for you. Especially if you want millions of sprites and animations done, and you NOT going to pay them. No one is going to host servers for free, either.

In simple words, make the game yourself. When you know how to program.

By the way, why do you need Java AND C++ to make this game? This is what doesn't make sense to me.

From what I understand, there are other people actually working on this "project". So Scorpian, whoever is working on it besides Kinky noob might already be planning to...host the servers.

I'm making a website, does anyone know flash?
Sorry just reminded me...

LOL like scorpion said, why JAVA (one of the most complicated programing languages) AND C++ (the über language)? You should only need one, unless you are gonna put it on the web or something... Oh...

Hello there Kinky Noob, welcome back.  First off, I'd like to say that if this is the first game you're going to attempt to make then you've picked a pretty difficult genre.  MMO games are one of the most difficult genres because of the constant maintenance and updating you have to work with.  Depending on how serious you are, you might want to plan out an outline for a story, you're plans and possible deadlines, things like timeline expectancies, and so fourth.  If this is also you're first attempt at programming I suggest you start off a bit slower.  Every new programmer has ambitions to make great and successful games, but it takes baby steps.

Another thing to consider is that this will take a lot of dedication from you and[/i] your team (assuming you have one), a bit of money will be needed for the servers and their upkeep, and a lot of time.  They won't do everything for you, this isn't a supervising job, it's a job of coordinated teamwork.  From what you've told us, it seems that you have no coding skills (or any other required skills for that matter), which is not a good thing.  My suggestion to you is to put this project on hold and take up something constructive that you will be able to apply to this project (even if it isn't a programming language, just something).

I, myself, have no programming skills but I know the difficulty of learning a language because I'm learning LUA slowly but surely because of GMod10 and World of Warcraft (develop my own interface mods).  It also helps to have positive encouragement and a good coach, mine being Rambo_6.

If you're serious about this project then I wish you only the best of luck and give you my support.

I am reading on C++ and am catching on fast...But my specailty is GFX n SFX...Croping and layering sprites is my thing..Also the ENTIRE STORYLINE n GAMEPLAY n SCREENLAYOUT are under my job...Coyotes job is...finding a engine that will suit the gfx we want....

Sorry to stink up the place but just wanted to show my support.

Basically we have good ideas, good tools, and a better community (as small as it may be) I personally am a little out of my scope, I am certified for 3D games and have experience with 3D graphics design, and engines, but I lack the online game programming expertise.

As for servers, I will be worrying about that when the time comes.

Link us to a few of your previous games.

Anyway, you claim the story is so spectacular, and I admit, that goes a long way in making a good game.  But what is the story?

Even if the story is amazing, I say give it up for now.  I don't think you have any concept of how difficult it is to code and maintain an MMORPG.  You have to make sure it works on different platforms and in different browsers.  You need to make a clean and understandable user interface.  Most people can get past bad graphics, but if the interface is clunky, no one will like the game.  Not only do you need a huge world and lots to do (quests, minigames, whatever), you also need to be constantly updating.

Also, you have to give people a reason to play.  A good storyline doesn't matter if the gameplay is exactly the same as all of the other MMORPGs.  Look at the big games (Everquest, WoW, Guild Wars, even Runescape).  See which demographic each game appeals to most, and figure out why.  Mimic the necessary parts, then add your own content to keep the game fresh.

Be prepared for bugs.  Lots of them.  Decide how you're going to deal with hackers and other disruptive players.  If you ban them, how will you enforce that ban?

You'll also have to deal with major balance issues.  Are all of the skills equally easy to level?  Do all of the enemies have roughly the same proportion of resources spent to rewards obtained?  Is PvP possible?  How will you keep the higher level players from attacking the lower level players?

I've been in the game development community for a few years now, and I've seen lots of people like you.  "Hey everyone, I have big ideas for an amazing game!"  Then, after a bit of work on the game, they lose interest, realize that the scope was too broad, or feel that the game is taking too much time compare to what they're getting out of it.  Don't get me wrong; I'm not saying that you'll definitely fail, or that you don't have the skills.  But the odds are definitely against you.

In my opinion, you don't understand the scope of what you're trying to do.  You're thinking too big, and when people think past their abilities, bad things will happen.  But hey, your game, your time.  MM started Soldat when he was 16, and look where that gone.  So it is possible to do this, and I wish you luck.

Only anime shows I've felt any interest in over the years are Pokemon (original TV series) and various hentai.

Okay...Here it goes....

You start out as a ninja in traing in the ninja acadmey. You must fight your fellow students or go and train in the forest. After traing when you think you are ready you may take the EXAM. You will challenge your master to a one on one dual. If you defeat him you will become the next lvl ninja. If not you must continu your training. The main quest happens AFTER you become a Ninja Master (The Last Rank until the specail ranks). The DarkNinja (A group of curropt ninja) will ask you to join them. If you agree you gain dark ninja rank and will be given new skills on the skill tree also new missions will be available and you will be able to become one of the Head DakrNinja...(DarkGama) The final Dark rank. If you decline then they will attack you and you will be given a NEW mission set and skill tree...The light ninja.(Kinda a Good Guy bad Guy chocie.) If you decline you join the Other ninja...Basicly anyone who is NOT a darkninja...Is against them...

And within game play DakrNinja Battle the rest of the ninja.!

Note this may change depening on what we decide to do with the main quest layout.....

Yes the skills are easyly balanced..If its simple enough for a FOURM GAME. then it will be simple to code there are only 5 stats...
Attack
Deffense
Speed
Chakra
Health...

We may add some for more variables in MMO fights and the skills are CONSTANLY being tweaked for more balanced play...

Okay first off...I know how hard it is...

Second....I already knew all that..I admit i am a noob at this but it would make a great story for the front page on the website....Or something......

According to your forum, the game is based off Naruto...which doesn't really have an amazing story no offense. Even though it is free...I've heard mods for other getting shut down because they didn't have permission from the maker of the original universe or something like that...or maybe it was because a game like that was already being made.

I'm assuming this is going to be free right? Either way....you're going to attract many...Naruto fans.

That's not much of a story...You're a guy who has to train until he's either a dark ninja or a light ninja?  Because that is SO DIFFERENT from every other RPG... (sarcasm)

Come on, you need to have something to draw people into your game.  What makes it different (or better) from any other RPG?
